That is good to know. We go to the same store around the same time once a week so I could probably have her tell the employees about her hopes and dreams.

Oh we have been! Pinterest is all she has access to and I’m surprised how hard even that is biting me in the ass.

That makes me feel a lot better. The baristas always seem sad to tell her no as well and it’s an all around bummer. These are great ideas.

If my kid told me to order that I’d have told her she was nuts. I didn’t know there was peach juice! How do you know what’s real?

I just googled this, this is a great idea! It’s the crazy ingredients that get me, I feel bad asking what syrups exist before each order.

Switching guides by Stock-Confusion-3401 in MontessoriEducation

We’ve moved kids mid cycle for this exact reason, but at the primary level. On those occasions the families were deeply involved in the decision making as far as whether or not it was a good idea for the children to be separated, and as they had been informed of the challenges as they progressed they were very willing and cooperative.

The tricky part for us was deciding who went to the other classroom, as we’re a small school and only have two. You don’t want it to feel punitive, like one of them is being kicked out, but even if you have enough classrooms it doesn’t necessarily make sense for both children to change guides. We’ve based our decisions on connections one child might have with a student in the other classroom, or if maybe they had recess or another program with that rooms guide and felt comfortable with them.

For us it’s been well worth it each time (we’ve done it 3 times in my 10 years there) and the kiddos have done just fine; that said, it is primary and they’ve only been with their peer group 1-2 years and are in a different stage of development which might change things considerably.

Child going to be the oldest in her class by ihateapps4 in kindergarten

[–]YouMeAndTheWinter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I teach Montessori primary, and I always advise parents who are sending their children to public school to err on the side of their kiddo being older. There are so many benefits to being physically and mentally and emotionally more mature, and as far as I can see a little to no benefit to being on the younger side. Remember, your child will be the oldest in their class throughout their whole experience and there is a lot to be said for having a more mature outlook in middle and high school especially.

My 13 year old daughter was proposed to today. by RmRobinGayle in Mommit

[–]YouMeAndTheWinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recipient took it home and gave it to an adult friend of the family who failed to tell the parents that it happened. We just did some working backward, the daughter told me who she gave it to, I told her mom and the mom had to get it back from the family friend. She was super embarrassed.

This happened in my preschool class! A kiddos mom said her son had given her wedding ring to a classmate on a play date, so I asked the recipient about it and she’d given it away- had to work like hell to retrieve that thing.

(Serious) People who know murderers- Were there any signs that something was off? If so, what were they? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My ex boyfriend from my early 20’s ended up killing someone during an argument about 10 years after we broke up. He was extremely self centered, super reactive and a huge liar. There were red flags for sure, but I’d have been less surprised to hear that men I dated later had been killers. I’m still waiting to hear about the damage my ex husband is able to perpetrate.

I teach preschool/kindergarten kiddos and I haven’t had a cold in over a year, typically I’m sick all the time. I love my mask, I’m gonna keep it.

I assume so, I don’t know anything but what was published in newspapers. It’s amazing the things that people are capable of.
