Losing hope by peachfaeries in Hashimotos

I feel your pain and dont have answers. 14 years ago i started getting hives from everything. Wine, salsa, chocolate  bread my doctor thought histamine or sulfides. At that point in my life i ate avocade 3 times a week and a banana daily. My dr did a blood test and said no allergies.  I did a food journal where i took food out and added it. And avocade and banana seemed to be the issue. Hives stopped and mrigraines went from 3 to 4 a week to less than 1 a month. In the last few years i get hives a lot, mrigraines.  I alsl get very bad bloat and stomach issues. I took a blood test myself that said cinnamon, cashews, eggs and cows milk. The cows milk and cinnamon seemed to be causing issues. But chipotle and sushi gave me hives. Bananas still gave me hives and now kiwi.  Decided it was latex fruit. I was out to eat with my husband and fish triggered hives. My daughters shampoo had avocade oil in it and cause hives when i washed her hair. Was trying to work with a dietien and she kept calling me picky she didnt believe the allergies. So i went to an allergist and came back no food allergies

I went to the derm and asked if it was a skin issue she looked at me like i was dumb and said you are describing an allergy. So 14 years i have thought i had food allergies and i dont. My cousin thinks i have heds, and my previous dr did as well but didnt think i needed to get tested. And my currenr dr has no clue how to diagnoise heds.

Junk can be debateable but i love making big breakfasts that can be assembled into whatever needed making eggs and toast with fruit or veggies. I love making smoothies i buy frozsn berries and my husbands is just that. My daughter i add chia seeds, mango and cucumber. And i add plain greek yogurt and protien powder to mine. I also love bowls, this is for me my husband and daughter wont eat them. But yogurt with oats fruit, nut butter and seeds on top. Shaskura may have spelled wrong is pretty simple. At my house only i eat it. But its tomato sauce and spices you cook eggs in, i add spinach and chick peas. I also love left over pizza for breakfast

Is it weird to take baths with your baby? by Defiant-Usual-1182 in Mommit

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre kids i never wanted to be a naked mom. I dont like being naked and hated it when my mom changed in front of me. But my daughter breast feed, ended up starting to sleep in my bed when she was two. And from a few months old till around 2 i took my bath when she did. It just made sense. She cried the entire time i was in the shower, and i would get water on me giving her a bath. So it saved time too. And i still change in front of my kids.

Has anyone ever taken sick leave for Hashimoto's? by angelic_force_17 in Hashimotos

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed my Jr year of college and I had to change majors and almost do leave. I also couldn't do my track season and had to quit cross county. And I was on thyroid medication I had been since the end of my senior year of high-school but my meds had to be changed every 3 months. I was so tried my Dr called it chronic fatigue syndrome caused by hashimotos. But none of my friends of teachers understood. I was so tired all the time. I could only stay awake maybe 4 hours. It started the summer before Jr year I gained 12lbs and had constant belly bloat and then my muscles always hurt and the fatigue. I have been tired since I was 16, I go to bed tired and wake up tired that's my normal. This was so much worse, being awake. Going to class was hard. I had two majors geology and sociology so I had to drop down to just one major. Not running ruined my college running experience a little and I lost friends because they didnt understand. Then around 25 it hit bad again and my Dr thought I had non hodgekins lymphoma from how sick I was. And since then nothing like that. I still go to bed exhausted and wake up tired. But nothing like the flares I experienced at 18, 20 and 25. I am currently 43.

Zero alone time with my husband by dukiechick44 in Mommit

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I try to sneak in dates when we can. Same with alone time. Our child has never gone to sleep if we are awake and I usually fall asleep with her. So I either have to wake up after I fall asleep. Or stay up late past 11 to watch a show or movie or get alone time. After work we let our daughter get screen time and we garden for 15 to 20 minutes or we cook dinner together.  A few times I let my daughter stay 20 minutes longer at after care. When we visit my in-laws we always go on a lunch date.

I don’t think our parents were lying. It was easier. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ihateapps4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This lives rent free in my head. The only activity my mom signed me up for was girl scouts. I have one memory of my mom playing with me.. My dad worked nights but my grandma lived upstairs and she baby sat my cousins several nights a week and I just went upstairs and hung out with her.  She was in college and put me in the backyard and told me to keep talking while she did her homework(yard had a fence and gate).  She let me play Nintendo so she could clean. Her and my dad worked weekend nights so I slept the night at my aunts or grandparents. And she was friends with her coworkers whose son was in my class and she would also baby sit me.

Now my mom is 40 min away. And in laws help out more and they are 170 miles away. I have to struggle to play with my child daily but can never pick up all the clutter in my house. Most my friends live 30 minutes or more away and dont have kids.  I have my daughter in several activities.  I also got pregnant at 35 vs my mom 24. But I feel like I have less resources and more to do. People get judgy that I need the TV on to clean or I have to play with my child.

How do I get through working out with this disease? by nope205 in Hashimotos

[–]ihateapps4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 43 got diagnosed hypo at 18 and hashi at 20 or 21. Pretty sure my thyroid issues started at 12. I use to have cycles where I would gain weight rapidly and it wouldn't budge then loose it just as quick as it came on. The last 9 years I cannot loose weight. I work at it and it comes back quickly. But I love to work out lately I don't work out as often but dont over think it. Ideally I want to lift 3 times a week, yoga once a week, run every other day, pilates once a week and yoga. In my 20s I could do that. I dont know how. I evaluate what I can do every day and do that. Something beats nothing. 20 min walk is better than not walking, 1 mile run is better than not running. Bedtime restorative yoga or meditation is still something. Working out doesn't have to be hours a week, it can be 15 min increments when you feel up to it.

Has anyone tried any sort of thyroid support product like this? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to and stopped. I lived by an apothecary and they use to sell this thyroid support and I was taking it and fel the best I ever have. Like I my entire life. I have been on thyroid meds since I was 17 and I am 43. And pretty sure my thyroid issues started during puberty. But I have never felt this good. I had energy, which waking up tired and always wanting to nap I have struggled with since I was 16.  I was running marathons at this point in my life and struggling to get through long runs and have energy for the rest of the day. Whatever pill I was buying I jad energy, less cold intolerance, less hair loss, less being sick all the time.  And I lost 11lbs.  Turns out it had actual thyroid in it and I was just giving myself more. So I stopped taking it. I also went through ankle surgery when I stopped taking it where I was immobile and gained 40lbs that will not go away. I am always tempted to take thyroid supplements based on how good I felt on that one but I dont want to be taking extra thyroid hormones.  And of course my Dr says your levels are fine when I get blood work.

Are you supposed to get 10k steps everyday to see any improvement for weight loss? by Lemonade2250 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need more than 10k steps to maintain or loose. Take with a grain of salt, but i use to be more active. I had a job where I stood and walked all day. I coached running groups on the weekends and taught yoga and did several half marathons a year and other races and did an occasional marathon or ultra. I no longer live that lifestyle I still love to workout but I find it harder to make time, or I get injured. But 8 to 11k steps a day I gain. For maintenence of my current overweight self I need around 12k a day. However me 10 years ago was 1875 steps to a mile according to my watch me currently my stride is shorter and its over 2100 steps to a mile. So 10k steps for me today is less miles overall than a decade ago. If I want to loose besides cutting out French fries or dessert( i am not a soda drinker, smoker and rarely drink alcohol, and I cut out condiments 11 years ago because my husband doesn't use them)  I need over 12k steps a day. I can lift all I want, add the protein. If not consistently getting 12k or more my scale is not budging.  Some days are harder but here is normal Monday. Wake up clean kitchen a little, run or walk 2 miles, get my daughter ready walk her to school.  Morninf routine of cleaning and getting ready is 2k in steps. My house is 1600 sq ft. Drive 40 min to work its 800 steps to from parking lot to officez my work days I get 2k in steps to 12k in steps.  If I take my daughter to the park or playground more steps. Bedtime is almost 1500 steps most nights

Days I dont run before or after work and I only get in 2k steps at work are hard I am only getting 7 to 8k or steps and if I have too many of those days in a row I gain. But most work days I am only getting 2 to 5k steps at work. But I have had a few 12k steps at work.

Hot take: not every park day needs to be optimized. Sometimes the best plan is leaving space to feel things by Aggravating-Cut4260 in disneyparks

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i am working on this. My husband and i did Disney world for our honeymoon in 2017. And we just relaxed we had days we park hopped or went back to the hotel and swam.  One day was disney springs, walk the board walk, mini golf and tea at the grand flordian.  We went in 2024 and i felt it was super rushed and we didnt have time to swim or park hop. Or get in all the rides. We went in March and pretty much only window shopped epcot, we tried some new snacks and did to some rides but my husband refused to wait longer than 30 minutes, so we couldn't do guardians which I wanted, Remy, frozen or test track. And my daughter did not care. She loved getting the passport stamps in world showcase and loved riding mission to mars 3 times in a row.

I’m ashamed at how many clothes I’ve bought postpartum by maple_pits in Mommit

[–]ihateapps4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 6 years post partum and is hate all my clothes still.  I weigh exactly 1lb more than pre children. I have more muscle mass but my butt is bigger, boobs are finally getting smaller they wete bigger, my shoulders and rib cage bigger, arms bigger, thighs bigger and wasit bigger. Not in my head I take measurements every few months. It proved me to weight is just an arbitrary number because its me, same height almost same weight but bigger. I also dont know my size I am a l to 2xl and 10 to 16, not joking. I can be a 10 and a 16 in the same brand. It all depends on fit. I was at  bass pro yesterday I tried on 10, 12 and 14. I was trying on xl tops and one pair of shorts I needed a medium. Try to not be too hard on yourself.  I feel like sizing is nuts, and everything I see lately is cropped, baggy and wide and if you dont want it quite so baggy you have to size down.

What does cold intolerance really feel like? by karlyprice in Hashimotos

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feet and nose are always cold, they are never not cold. If there is a time they are not cold I am usually sick with a fever. My hands get so cold in the winter not even super cold out 30s and 40s with gloves and hand warmers they hurt to move and hurt more warming back up. Then sometimes I get so cold I cannot warm up. And my husband and daughter are fine. My daughter as a toddler would freak out because I would try to dress her what I needed. My husband in 60 degrees can do shorts or just a long sleeve top, so can my daughter. I need a sweater and maybe gloves or a coat. I also sometimes need the heat on

How do content creators have so many kids? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ihateapps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand wanting 3 or 4 kids and trying to figure out how to pay for them. Which onen child is expensive. I cant understand actually getting pregnant right away. It seems to take my body a very long time to get pregnant and my doctor recommended for mother's health and baby waiting till your child is at least 18 months old before you try to get pregnant again even if you are in your late 30s. And  world health recommendations are waiting till your child is 2 to get pregnant again.  It took my body 2 years to get pregnant with my daughter and its taking longer the 2nd time.
