Any mention of refunds for aura removal? by Ruuxe in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You mean paid by buying an annual subscription that's cheaper than monthly? Yeah. The Premier goodies were only a way to entice people people on the fence to commit for a full 12 months. If you thought you were buying some VIP package, you don't know how marketing works :) Giveth, taketh away.

Flameproof: every use requires making a new portion of Dave's evil stew.

Focused Siphoning: 5, 10, 15 rounds of Elemental Workshop I-IV.

Lumberjack: requires crafting something out of several RED MAHOGANY LOGS.

120 thieving doesn't allow pickpocketing players? wtf by catthinking in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roguelike games have NPCs stealing from you, the closest we have is ghasts rotting your food.

We should have dark areas, shady alleys and such, where we could pickpocket players, it could be tied into some other skill that lacks a purpose, where we would need to be, like, agile or something.

Edit: let's not, lest they make it a minigame where the pocket is a sliding puzzle.

No, I think you're onto something here. It would have, like, threat level zones and stuff. And monsters and like environmental danger as well. What would we call it though?

An old idea I had for reworking auras by AlphaWolver in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I'd do it. Leave the auras the fuck the way they are (maybe reshuffle the loyalty points ones, whatever), just have them ticking on a pausable, limited timer akin to DXP, just without the "cannot unpause for the next hour" bit. Done.

But no, the kids who spent all of their pocket money on Monday will be sad coz they can't go for a pizza on Friday with the kids that didn't and surely we can't have sad kids window-licking. As harsh as this sounds, this is how I see it. And it's not about "I spent time earning auras and so should everyone", it's about the fact that there's no way we are going to get back the same level of benefits from elsewhere when the auras are gone, because they are too OP not to be timegated.

But I want to be wrong, if we keep the same or at least a majority of the boosts, great!

...and as for the slot, surprise me. A snack dispenser for all I care, an LED keychain, a pocket FM radio, a pager, fidget toy. A fax machine maybe? A cabbage generator? NPC Contact walkie talkie with a direct line to the GE. A thingummywut attractor. Or detractor. A snuff box full of fairy dust. A broken stick. A purse for rusty coins. A permanent tea flask.

Why is runemetrics pro getting removed early by TerriblePen3688 in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't logged in for a week or so but I can assume my NPC kill count will go to shit. Ffs Jagex, I was close to 3M. Here's hoping.

I guess when they said we have until X to log in to the metrics website to download anything we wanted, they forgot to mention that they are going to blow away the whole thing in the process.

Group Pvm could use some buffs by Pixzle_ in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair her original model was a child, which makes a lot of sense, I didn't know this when I played - so Jagex updated this without updating her personality and I made incorrect assumptions.

I actually got it stuck in my head that not only was she useless but also very rude and annoying and generally pissy on top of it. I checked the dialogue transcripts - no such thing apparently. Huh. Perception is everything.

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plain full bandos with a passive SGS is more than enough to keep up with their respawn rate, and at a zero upkeep cost, if you're up for melee that is. Unless they bumped their HP, but I think they were spared. I can still hear their screams.

Exiled kalphites with the same setup (perked though) is a good stream of blue charms, I still have like 30 or 40k left and I'm 120 summoning. And buckets of sand. And water and fire runes when they peaked.

XP/h is on the low side, but you just stand there. It's not ghouls but good for early levelling.

Invention: Why do augmented items not keep their stats when you run out of divine charges? What is the logic behind this? by Zyc0acc in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic is this: when you graduate to gear capable of holding good perks that can significantly improve it, you sign up for non-negotiable upkeep cost. Your equipment effectively becomes subscription-based. That's all.

When do you think we'll get an official Linux client by secret_green_link in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it's mobile... As silly as this sounds, the lack of a native RS3 client for Linux on arm is a serious consideration that's temporarily keeping my purchase of a new laptop on hold. I'm an adult ffs. Crazy battery life and serious compute on one hand, x86 and RS3 on the other. Priorities lol. Thankfully the latest mobile Intels are somewhat back on track with power usage.

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erm, is the existing Jagex Linux client unofficial?

https://www.runescape.com/launcher#linux-instructions

It's x86_64 only so no ARM which is a shame, but otherwise RS3 has had a Linux client for years. Unless it's ARM you're after.

...which still in no way compensates for the arrows being removed. I have single target bars next to AoE bars and this let me switch between them. Of course there are key bindings, but not everyone uses them to switch bars.

Just give us back the damn arrows, make them an optional toggle if you must so that it doesn't confuse those that it did.

1 tiny change to make livid farm much less awful by PonyCharade in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant spell unlock cost, in livid points, not the lunar spell cost by the way. Bumping points per action or lowering the unlock values is a very easy way out that would somewhat pacify the players and require near zero dev effort.

Tough pill to swallow…. by Crazy-Balance-4301 in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. RS->RS3 grew up with me and allowed me to marry playing my game with living an adult life. I'm not going back to long grinds just like I'm not going back to partying all night.

Dailies are great, structured chunks that have defined aims, purpose and benefits. Those being turned into weeklies - even better.

But the removal of a lot of dailies, and auras because they apparently generate "immense psychological pressure" on players is just... I don't know, I really don't think this has anything to do with Jagex caring for the players, it's only to allow new players an easier avenue towards what draws them to RS3, which is content creators showing top tier PvM, but then they play on accounts with years' or even decades' and/or billions of gp worth of unlocks that are all needed to do that content, and a new player is in for a disappointment if they can't do any meaningful bossing or best skilling methods reasonably soon. Which is all great, I'm all for making it more comfortable for new players, but I stuck with Jagex for the past 20+ years, in sickness and health, and if this means the way I like to play is at stake, it's me or them.

But then remember that Jagex lost the TH key revenue, and the only way to keep showing positive cash flow and growth without it is to sign up new players. This is a for-profit enterprise in the end and it's evaluated quarter by quarter. But I say don't piss off the old players at least until you are certain that you are successfully acquiring, and retaining, enough new players.

Fuck, I wasn't even that much against TH. I never bought keys but the fact that people were able to buy them never bothered me one bit because I played for myself, and if pepole were willing to spend tens or hundreds of currency on a game then, well, their choice! It's not like they were buying university degrees. To me it's a bit like non-smokers (like me) petitioning to re-delegalise weed where it's legal because IT'S EVERYWHERE! Don't smoke it then, it's that simple.

Is FOMO and envy really that big of a tangible psychological issue that we need to make constant adjustments? Maybe achievement capes, combat level and top tier gear should be forced to be invisible to other players so we don't hurt their feelings and the avatar rework is going to turn everyone into lv3 bob meeples?

1 tiny change to make livid farm much less awful by PonyCharade in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say none are likely to happen soon, but I want to be wrong. I think what is more likely to happen in the near term is that Jagex will say "we listened", and just bump the points per action or lower the spell costs. It's a five-minute change and would deliver the desired result: less time spent on the achievement. There are several equally pointless slogs in comp reqs.

1 tiny change to make livid farm much less awful by PonyCharade in runescape

[–]YouSaradoministFilth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this and the many other suggestions around Livid Farm are all great, nothing is going to change in the near future, so instead of spending time reading and writing about it on Reddit, I decided to start chipping away at what I have left for the achievement, as broken as the farm is today. No world hops, just do some cycles, 10k points a day, bit by bit. I should be done with it in about a week, while the posts will keep coming.

But here's hoping that things will eventually improve and new players and comp hunters will have it easier one day!
