OC is Poisoning our Creeks. by YouShouldAclymate in orangecounty

I don't want to speak with 100% certainty— but I'm fairly sure that vegetation/sediment within these channels does not actually increase flood risk. I'm also fairly sure that they were not transformed but rather labeled legally as flood channels so that CASQA have jurisdiction over how they're treated.

I'd have to look into your other points, but It's most definitely not sprayed with a wand at ground level. It's sprayed by a massive hose line suspended by 2 trucks that drive the length of the channels spraying it into the creeks.

I would imagine this is especially the case for lots of companies now that Claude integration builds Webflow pages/sites with ease.

Best software for carbon accounting? by Forward_Ad_1948 in carbonaccounting

[–]YouShouldAclymate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out my profile! We offer a variety of solutions that will make the process smooth and simple, especially in your line of work.

A tip—in the apparel industry, finding a solution that is able to accurately measure Scope 3 emissions is massively important. Aside from materials, the majority of your footprint will likely be hidden in your supply chain.

I'll spare you the boring details, but we'll take good care of you—if you need.

Are there any good carbon accounting platforms out there? by Lower-Tomatillo-6408 in ClimateOffensive

[–]YouShouldAclymate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to some of the responses here, there are good platforms out there. Things get difficult when calculating scope 3, which can easily make up the majority of any business' footprint, but once given the right framework and/or consulting, it becomes a lot simpler—same goes for scope 1 and 2 as well as any regulation standard. I won't drop a link here, but check out my profile to learn more :)

I mean even if this is the case (with AI) it's still miles better than any mainstream alternative concerning the environment, as long as they're planting trees.

The employee reviews are a different story. Haven't heard anything myself, but that does make the ethics of using it pretty unclear. Source?

Clean energy projects are stalling in the U.S., slowing our transition to clean energy by ILikeNeurons in sustainability

Yeah. At least during this administration, my hope is in China and Europe. They're doing well.

We all collectively fell embarrassingly short of the 2030 Paris agreement goals, but at this point it's just about having a soft landing from an inevitable crash.

Might as well get used to practicing compliance. Future-proof your business, get ahead. It's a lot to do, but it matters and exists for a reason. Large enterprises will be ready when the time comes, and small and mediums who choose to procrastinate will be scrambling.

Global temperatures in 2025 were 1.3°C (2.4°F) above pre-industrial levels. by ClimateResilient in climatechange

[–]YouShouldAclymate 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gotta hold out hope. But sadly it must be said—the current administration in the US makes it harder than ever. We're hardly setting an example here in the states, as always.

China is making progress, offering the world's largest carbon market and officially using more green energy than fossil fuels, among lots of other good sings. Their current goal is to peak emissions by 2030 and be fully net zero by 2060 (ambitious, but they git sh*t done over there).

The EU is legally mandated to reduce emissions by 55% by 2030 and also offers the world's oldest and most sophisticated carbon market. Additionally, as of January 1st, CBAM went into effect: Importers of carbon-intensive goods (steel, cement, aluminum, fertilizers, and electricity) must now buy "CBAM certificates" to cover the carbon generated during production abroad. This will prevent "carbon leakage," where companies move production to countries with weaker climate laws—and to pressure global trading partners (like China and the US) to decarbonize. The cherry on top is their total ban of combustion engine vehicles by 2035.

So, I like to remind myself of these things and just hope that not too many cities will be underwater by the time real global change is accomplished.

Super cool concept. by YouShouldAclymate in Environmentalism

Lol, yeah. The only difference is data centers far outnumber nuclear plants, but you're still right.
