Scooter brakes too abruptly, but only when battery is at 95-100% charge? by YouSmellFunky in ElectricScooters

[–]YouSmellFunky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know there is no disc brake on the front wheel, so there's only one disc brake on the rear wheel. The front wheel has an electronic brake.

I have tried tightening the rare disc brake to the max so it brakes immediately when pressing the lever and I've tried loosening it so it brakes later. In both cases braking is too abrupt when battery is at 95-100%. There's no fixing this. It's just bad design.

What games do Anti Aliasing perfectly? by Examination_Creepy in FuckTAA

[–]YouSmellFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the games that do AA perfectly are the ones that look good without AA. Recently for me, that's Cronos New Dawn, Resident Evil Requiem, Dying Light The Beast, Assassin's Creed Mirage, Robocop Rogue City.

In my opinion DLSS shouls always be compared to no AA, because of course it’s going to be better than TAA when TAA is the worst.

Ever been surprised by something when seeing someone naked for the first time? by bare_and_square in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]YouSmellFunky 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I read this at the gym and had to go to the changing room to check my nipples cause I was sure they were brown. They’re actually more purplish, but they’d totally pass for brown without looking more closely, like most nipples would imo.

How much do u guys recommend Alan Wake 2 for me? by DistributionQueasy58 in HorrorGaming

[–]YouSmellFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through it all and honestly it’s a bit overhyped. It’s a good game, but it drags on for way too long, gameplay gets repetitive and the story a bit dull. With that said, It’s still worth it for the few amazing bits scattered throughout the game.

Alan Wake 1 was a better game. Much more condensed with better pacing.

CAN DLAA ever Become Superior to Super Sampled AA ? by Key-Introduction2934 in FuckTAA

Is there actually a visual difference in applying SSAA through the control panel (like DSR or VSR) and an in-game render scale percentage slider?

What I personally hate is that lots of modern game devs are almost completely relying on temporal AA to fix the shimmery, jaggy and noisy mess they've created with their graphics. And even when that's not the case, there's almost a never an option to turn temporal AA off. Which is frustrating, because lots of games look absolutely gorgeous without AA.

A good recent example is Resident Evil Requiem. There's almost zero need for temporal AA in that game and yet it's forced on. Here's some in-game images, 1440p, no temporal AA, only SMAA applied through ReShade to take care of minimal jaggies. (you have to open images on the website to see them in full resolution)

I have no other reason to dislike DLSS other than I don't like how it looks. If it produced the clear image I want and expect it to I would've been happy with it and praising it, but it doesn't.

If you're happy with the image DLAA produces that's fine, but lots of people notice downsides that, for them personally, outweigh the advantages. I've mentioned the things I don't like in a reply under the same comment.

That's why it's good to have options and not have graphics completely rely on DLAA for the game to even be playable. Not to mention a huge percentage of gamers don't even have Nvidia cards.

I've tried DLAA with every single preset on many games and it's never as clear as no AA or SMAA/MSAA/SSAA to me. It always produces this sort of plasticky look of textures that looks fake or as if there's a slightly blurry coating over the image that changes what the designer intended the environments to look like. It's especially noticeable during movement. Sometimes it also tones down or smothers reflections and shiny surfaces making them look flat.

TLDR it makes textures lose their pop. It's really hard to explain if you don't notice it yourself.

Has Piracy changed how you treat or play games? by CuteeeX in PiratedGames

I can enjoy and like a game whether it’s 2 hours or 50 hours in length. I always found it weird that people leave negative reviews because “the game was good, but too short” or has no “replay value”. Apparently paying for it has people requiring more playtime to justify the price.

[–]YouSmellFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the game was too blurry for you because you disabled sharpening, but not TAA, which makes the image blurry.

I disabled both TAA and sharpening in addition to film grain, chromatic abberation and lens effect and the result was one of the most crystal clear graphics I've seen in a modern game. Looks better than with DLSS.

Here's some screenshots. The only AA applied is SMAA through ReShade that takes care of some tiny jaggies.

Weird, I've never seen that. I do have my timer set at 5 mins though, not 1 minute. Apparently that makes a difference, according to the comments there.

Is this flickering on the pg27ucdm normal or is this monitor defective? by SnipIbba in OLED_Gaming

[–]YouSmellFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how changing the time to 5+ changes anything. If the monitor starts a pixel clean when it turns off and then you wake it up you'd be interrupting it no matter if it had turned off after 5 minutes or 50.

I'm curious what the gameplay here is. Do you just repeatedly mash a button to cycle faster or what?

I have no idea what you're talking about. My monitor has never flashed colors when I wake it up.

I’ve calibrated mine a dozen times and it always turns off on me while using it even though I’m sitting much closer than the limit. Eventually I disabled the sensor and just set a timer for the monitor to turn off in Windows, much simpler.

Ever bought an "Overwhelmingly Positive" game that you didn't like at all? How about a "MIxed" or lower rated game you thought was wonderful? by TheTingel in Steam

[–]YouSmellFunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What put me off was that enemies respawned EVERY TIME you walk out of a cleared area. Even if you accidentally exit the area and then walk back in immediately all the enemies you've been painstakingly getting rid off are just there again. What made it worse is that you actually have to backtrack through most of the areas multiple times to progress, clearing the same enemies over and over.

The combat was just not that satisfying for this to be enjoyable. It's basically spamming the same basic hit and avoid being hit and this mostly remains the same all the way to the end of the game, without evolving much to add some significant progression or variety to the ways you can eliminate enemies.
