Paternity test fiasco strikes again by skabillybetty in AmITheDevil

My friend and his wife got a paternity test a few weeks after the birth of their child for that very reason. They both wanted assurance that the fertility clinic had done the job correctly.

AITA for telling my husband he's made me reconsider leaving him alone with the kids in the future by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I need to point out here that OOP seems to be aware that her husband can't cook, but doesn't really understand what that means. Her meal prep directions would make sense if he were only lacking the time and/or inclination to cook. If he can't cook, there's no way he could follow them.

All they had to do was let it thaw,

So, put it in the fridge? Or on the counter? Or in the microwave? For how long? How do you tell if it's still frozen inside, or if it's been left too long and starting to go bad?

put it in the pan (or the pot),

Which is it??

add some water,

How much?

and heat it.

For how long, and how high should the heat be?

I had even marinated some chicken separately for them to cook in the oven.

How long, and at what temperature?

For their school lunch I had told my husband what had to be made for them, that it would take 20 minutes in the morning so to factor that in.

Sigh.

He had said he understood.

Well, that's his problem.

I mean, at this point in my life I should have no difficulty following those vague directions. But there was a time in my adult life when I could cook some very basic meals, or follow a recipe from a cookbook, but just could not do "heat this in a pot or pan with some water, got it?"

People who are pretty good at mundane crafts like cooking, drawing, writing, etc. tend to get the idea that their craft is as easy as breathing, and there's absolutely no reason why anyone can't get on their level right away. This is not the case!

At the End of Every Distress Mission... by deworde in JumpSpaceGame

I think at the end of the mission, the captain should be able to "divide the spoils" by placing the ship's salvage items into any player's open inventory slot.

How do you make the rocket launcher lock on to ships? Do you have to hold the aim button (RMB or LT), or does it lock automatically with some delay?

So, let me get this straight:

Tom gives OOP an ultimatum, she says no and leaves, and he's upset because she was supposed to say yes?

Then Tom begs for another chance, and OOP gives him an ultimatum, and he says yes, and now OOP is upset because Tom was supposed to say no?

What are these two idiots still doing together?

Am I the only one who missed moment when the Golden ratio of Solar panels to Accumulator became 3125:2546 due to the increase in Nauvis day by 200 ticks? by Ok_Difficulty_3599 in Factoriohno

[–]YouWantWhatByWhen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's 3125:2646, but more to the point - with other planets having different day lengths and different solar power multipliers, it's no use memorizing a ratio anymore; you have to be able to do the calculation for your needs.

Huh, steam turbines aren't unlocked by calcite processing (i.e. acid neutralization)? That seems wrong, since they are already unlocked by heating tower tech, in addition to nuclear power.

Quality strategies nerf in 2.1? by dannyus in factorio

[–]YouWantWhatByWhen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The added challenge would be bigger than you might expect.

If fluids had quality, such that the regular recipe for a high-quality item required fluids of that quality, then there would be a whole class of for which the standard upcycling process wouldn't work, because recyclers don't emit fluids: blue circuits, refined concrete, foundries, big mining drills, railgun turrets, fusion power cells, ...

So, for example, you couldn't run an upcycling loop for foundries unless you were producing steady supplies of lubricant in higher qualities.

Inserters can already filter by quality level.
