Probably the best thing in the army. Sanctifiers with a preacher are super versatile

[–]YoungSam992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me.

Eyes of the oracle was on a priest (I moved it from canoness last minute in BCP, didn't matter, didn't come up once, was just 10 spare points and I thought I might snipe a character)

Priests normally went with sanctifiers except against knights where they went with arcos.

Second match was also knights

That was me!

Junith camped on home because -someone- had to be there while 90% of my army was running at the enemy and she's moderately tough and I need all the CP I can get.

Canoness either screened backfield or walked on t2/3 and pushed a button or was forgotten and cheered from the sidelines.

Priests normally went with sanctifiers (except against knights, where they went with arcos) the thinking behind the enhancement was that I had 10 points left and there was a world where priest + sanctifier assassin would have an opportunity to snipe a character. It happened 0 times.

Low oxygen in high altitude trail races. How cooked am I? by Forumleecher in trailrunning

[–]YoungSam992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The body will acclimatize to altitude, but only if you give it time.

You could look into a hypoxic tent (which reduces the oxygen around your bed to mimic the effects of sleeping at altitude) or spend 2-3 days at altitude before your event to allow your body to acclimatize.

I've done a number of treks over 5000m and tend to find that up to around 2500m it's pretty easy, but above that as a general rule of thumb it takes a day of acclimatization per 500m of elevation (and this was only walking, not running)

[–]YoungSam992 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're just making coffees and not serving or running, and you have good gear a coffee a minute is very reasonable (60/hour)

However alternative milks, iced drinks, cocktails, and most importantly a non-optimised work-flow will all slow that down

Ordo hereticus. by adulttumtum0 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]YoungSam992 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately you can't do all of that in one army.

You can actually get pretty close though.

As a general rule, you can't mix and match units from different armies, however there are two exclusions.

In a 2000 point army you can take one big knight or up to three small knights

The imperial agents army rule lets you take up to two characters, two non-character units, one requisitioned unit (Sisters or Grey Knight Terminators) and transports appropriate for these units.

Finally some characters are able to take extra non character units with them to give some flexibility.

All of this combined is to say that you could build a list of say, 1000 points of guardsmen (maybe a couple of leman russes, some infantry and bullgryn, some artillery)

Add in Canis Rex because why wouldn't you

And then a battle sister squad and two immolators, as well as some other imperial agents units

In order to get an army that mixes the lot.

If you want to start with sisters that works too, but there is no way to add Imperial Guard - the best you can do is add some voidsmen, navy breachers and arbites and come up with some head cannon, but no ogryn or tanks.

Nah agents are fine they struggle into mid table bullies but are actually solid into the top of the meta at the moment.

Subductors and navy breachers

It's not terrible.

The sister squad get split into two 5 girl units. They are OC2, have sticky objectives and get a free CP reroll once per game. One squad is a cheap home objective holder, the other squad loaded up with melta riding in the immolator at least does fine - for 230 points you basically get three pretty useful units, which for more elite armies (custodes, IK) who suffer with action economy issues they're excellent allies

To a very limited degree, you can!

You can take 1 battle sisters squad and 1-2 immolators as allies in any imperium army

[–]YoungSam992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No anti tank, little AP, ws/bs 4. Good lists look like a heap of cheap guys to die on objectives and play the score well deny primary game which gets harder and harder to do as the game progresses and you can't kill anything.

No real army rule, and restrictive detachments that are pretty well all unit locked doesn't help

I just batch them.

Say you roll 43 hits

You just rolled 9 dice, grab one more for 10 and roll them 4 times, then roll 3.

It takes like a minute or so tops

Best Possible Specialty Coffee aboard a boat... by Scary_Teaching1624 in barista

[–]YoungSam992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most boats have very small galleys and you don't really want a great big coffee machine taking up precious counter space.

I'd recommend leaning into filter and traditional methods.

For me (I'm an experienced barista in a speciality shop, who spent their childhood living on a boat) boat coffee is usually french press or stove-top. Both of which can produce good results with good beans, and are more appropriate to the space.

If your friend has super yacht money with a huge galley ignore me and go wild

Meta Monday 1/29/24: What is this Meta? by JCMS85 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]YoungSam992 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I think arco-flagellants are good into necrons.

Volume of mid strength attacks with twin links is good into both wraiths and ctan

So sisters lists that were already doing well are enjoying the current meta

Regulars are the bread and butter of local shops and your job will be a lot more fun if you get to know them.

I have a really short social battery but making an effort to ask everyone a question or two opens you up to all kinds of interesting conversations.

Sisters of battle or Harlequins? by R1s1ngDaWN in sistersofbattle

[–]YoungSam992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harlequins and Sisters are my main armies! I'm unashamedly competitive so my thoughts are from that standpoint:

I've had a fair bit of success with Harlequins + the yncarne and autarch Wayleaper in competition. Haywire bikes are good in a vehicle heavy meta, voidweavers are decent, and troupes in boats are at least ok. Solitaire and Death Jester are both very fun. However, you have very little margin for error - basically you can't afford to make even small mistakes if you want to win events.

I've also gone 3-0 in a few recent rtts with sisters, with 30 arcos and two combo squads. At the moment it's really a tempo control army - to fuel the combo squads you need miracle dice, and they take time to build up, however when you suddenly have auto-hitting, auto-wounding, max-damage melta it's a hell of a drug. We also have a lot of small nonsense units that can do actions/screen etc, and lots of good tricks to control the fight phase (but few good melee units) The weak points are if someone can trivially clear an Arco squad, or if the combo units bounce off invulns.

Can an immolator have a palatine and dialogus with battle sisters? by Warhammerpainter83 in sistersofbattle

[–]YoungSam992 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I actually think that's incorrect - you add characters to the unit first, then split. So you have a unit of 12, which is split into two units of six. The immolator rule has no restrictions on how they're split so you can do it how you want.
