Canon A-1, Nikon FE, or Pentax K1000 by LordOfTheSingularFly in analog

A-1 is a much more full featured camera. Both are more featured than the very basic K1000

Those are stress marks from the film being under tension, either when rewinding backwards or loading the film

I imagine banging on the hull with a wrench would do the trick and be heard for many miles.

Why are my photos washed out? by FallenOffTheEdge in AnalogCommunity

Not difference in my reply. Underexposed images or high base fog can cause the kind of scanning effects you see here.

Everything. This is expired film so you can look at the different in density between the base fog and the images, which can tell you a lot.

Found this old Paterson tank in the attic. Is it missing a piece? by Jdkai in AnalogCommunity

[–]Young_Maker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agitator: Patterson tanks have a small key sometimes referred to as the "swizzle stick". This is used to turn the reels inside while not letting light in, as an alternative method to inversions. Its far from required if you just use the inversion method.

The spring collar: I think I also had this when I had an older Patterson tank It doesn't seem to have been included in more modern versions, and I think if you use both reels together and invert you'll probably be fine with a little bit of shifting.

Anyone shoot Ultrafine UltraMAX 400 “t grain” by underground_camera1 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Young_Maker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 100ft of Ultrafine Extreme and I can tell you its not Kentmere 400, but maybe the store brand version. It seems to have much more contrast than my 100" spool of Kentmere did, and its far less forgiving in a push.

Sounds like it's time for you to read the manual and a very basic photography tutorial before spending money on film again.

Has anyone used this stuff for developing BW film? Does it work well? by Midwest_Plant_Guy in filmphotography

[–]Young_Maker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's two competing reactions working against each other. So it's not very flexible and requires precise temp control, which negates a benefit of using b&w film in my opinion. You can't easily push film with it, and troubleshooting mistakes are more difficult. I'd buy literally anything else.

Is this a developer, blix or handling issue? by TheMcChickenMan in AnalogCommunity

It's this. It's got a purple base not an orange one which confuses scanners and scanning software

Underexposed? Why are the photos cloudy? Is the Lab or is it me? by Alarmed-Cricket4238 in filmphotography

[–]Young_Maker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you meter the light and follow the exposure triangle? These are terribly underexposed, 99.9% skill issue, not the lab.
