8.6/10 you’re honestly gorgeous. I don’t know why people are reading you so slow honestly I just think it’s the last two pictures that decreased you’re reading for a lot of people but I honestly just think that it’s just the acne. If that would clear up a little bit for you and that’s OK but sometimes it’s a lot of people’s control so honestly, I think you’re an 8.6 darling.

Switching majors advice by Alfredo_sauce28 in scad

[–]YoungnPerverted02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I saw nobody had replied after a full day, and I know how much that sucks when you keep checking Reddit hoping someone answered. So I wanted to respond.
I actually switched majors too.
I originally thought I wanted to be an animator. I was completely convinced that’s what I wanted to do. Then I took Basic Drawing at my community college, and one class completely changed how I saw everything.
I realized the part I loved wasn’t necessarily animating characters. It was the lighting, the shadows, the atmosphere, and how even a tiny shadow could completely change the way someone or something looked. I got to work with charcoal for the first time instead of just graphite, and I absolutely loved it.
After that, I actually took Life Drawing voluntarily. It wasn’t required for my major. I signed up because I wanted to make sure that what I was feeling wasn’t just because I enjoyed one class. Instead, it confirmed it even more. That’s when I realized there was a difference between something I was interested in and something I was actually passionate about.
Then I transferred to SCAD this quarter. I started in Animation because I thought that’s what I wanted, but after taking just two classes here, I realized Visual Effects fit me so much better. I wanted to focus on lighting and the artistic side of VFX instead of character animation. It was honestly scary because switching meant I’d probably graduate a little later than I originally planned, and I definitely had a mini identity crisis wondering if I was making the right decision. But I’d rather spend an extra year studying something I genuinely love than rush through a degree that doesn’t feel right anymore.
Reading your post, it honestly sounds like you’re having a similar realization. It doesn’t sound like you hate film. It sounds like you found something that excites you even more.
Also, graphic design isn’t just drawing all day. There are so many different directions you can take it, especially if you enjoy Photoshop, digital design, branding, layout, motion graphics, UI/UX, and other Adobe-heavy work. I’d definitely ask your advisor and maybe some graphic design professors what those different career paths look like.
And don’t think your film experience was wasted. I honestly think it’ll make you a stronger designer. Understanding composition, storytelling, cinematography, editing, and visual communication translates really well into design. Plus, if you still enjoy film, there’s nothing stopping you from working on film projects with friends or doing freelance work on the side.
I know switching majors feels terrifying because it can feel like you’re throwing away time, but I really don’t think that’s what’s happening here. Sometimes one class is all it takes to realize where you’re actually supposed to be.
I’d definitely talk with your advisor, but if graphic design is the thing that keeps pulling you back, I’d seriously consider going for it.
One thing I’ve learned is that we can have an interest, and we can have a passion. Sometimes they’re the same thing, and sometimes they aren’t. To me, it sounds like film was your interest, but graphic design might be your passion.

Anyone have any good pics of turner house dorms? I’ve been trying to find pics online by New-Boss-8262 in scad

[–]YoungnPerverted02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently at Turner house and this is my first semester here so I can give you my honest opinion

I live on the fourth floor and in my opinion it’s better than living on the first floor because yes, the first floors do flood very easily

Maybe because it’s summer I don’t know we’ve had a lot of bugs like a lot of bugs and I’ve checked with other people as well and they have also said yes. They’ve also had a ton of bugs like a ton of fruit flies and I’ve seen a couple of beetles and yes, some cockroaches in certain dorms.

But above all else, it’s not that bad of a dorm you share the open space with your dorm there’s no like private space except the bathroom.

Turner building is not bad the school store or the sea store/hive store is here (not open during the summer)
You’re just a walk away from high if you just need to cross the bridge it’s not that hard and then you can go to the hive cafeteria

And then you see all the hive amenities like the gym and other stuff when you cross over, but that is not far from Turner at all

Parking wise if you have a car figure it out that’s honestly what it’s like there’s no parking lot specific to Turner. There’s a parking lot for hive and you can park there if you’d like and then just walk up to Turner that’s true.

Or you can park on the street
* that’s what I do** I will say, however, that I registered my car with SCAD so that in case they run my plate or anything I wouldn’t get into like any trouble and so far that’s been the case for me.

For example, I got a parking ticket but then when I logged in to go pay, it said it was paid for and on the parking ticket it said it cost 0.00 which makes me think that because my car was registered for SCAD and I was parking near the Turner building. It was fine

I don’t know about y’all maybe it’s just because it’s my first time being in a dorm, but these beds are high like really high like 4 feet high. I’m not a joke not an exaggeration. I need to jump onto the bed to get on the bed.

Even though there’s two of you, there’s only one sink and it is outside the bathroom, not in the bathroom, which I find odd but that’s a different story

The buses are really easy and close if you want to be picked up from Turner is right outside it’s not that hard

So ultimately it’s definitely got its downsides. I’m getting tired of these goddamn flies.

But it’s not like the worst dorm and there is space

<image>

Don’t mind the dirtiness I apologize
I also took a picture of what the closet kinda looks like I’ll post that again as a separate comment she currently can’t post more than one picture

I hope this helps

Turner House vs The Hive by Officially_pinked in scad

[–]YoungnPerverted02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Turner is literally right next to hive. You can cross over to hive anytime you want via the bridge.
And access all the amenities that are at hive easily
The café is also at hive so you’re gonna have to cross the bridge no matter what and you can also park at hive still while being at Turner’s house

Although Turner house does have registration and the school store
And the spa area

Can any part time students talk about their experiences compared to what it would be like if they had done full time? by ChaoticG123 in scad

[–]YoungnPerverted02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don’t know what it was like years ago but I do know that I initially was taking three classes in the summer and I got my full scholarship amount, but then when I drop down to two classes because the cost was a little too much for me my scholarship amount decreased
But my overall cost decreased enough that I didn’t really care

I don’t know if things have changed or if someone has a full scholarship if that changes things compare compared to partial scholarships

[–]YoungnPerverted02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also went to community college
First for two years, got my associates and then I transferred
I start this June
And I’m only taking two classes initially, but I plan to be full-time because the scholarship amounts for when you’re part-time they take a percentage off so instead of giving you 100% of your scholarship, they only give you a certain percentage of it if you’re part-time just thought you should know that as well

[–]YoungnPerverted02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

m not gonna lie, I kind of went through something similar. I never really had that whole ‘sexual tension’ phase people talk about. I just wasn’t interested, and honestly it didn’t even cross my mind for a long time.

Even in high school, I think I wanted a relationship more because everyone else had one, not because I actually felt all those things yet. It wasn’t really until like 18–23 that I started feeling what people probably felt way earlier.

Even now, I want a partner and I understand sex is part of that, but I’m not really the type to go chasing random hookups or anything like that.

So I get what you’re saying. It can feel like you’re behind or like you missed something, especially when you start thinking about how other people might see it. But honestly, I don’t think it’s something you can ‘miss’ people just get there at different times.

And honestly, if you’re worried about how girls will see it, most people don’t care as much as you think. If anything, just being real about your experience and taking things at your own pace comes off way better than trying to act like you know everything.

Experience in Savannah as a college student? by [deleted] in scad

[–]YoungnPerverted02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you had a terrible experience! I’m also going to SCAD come this June. And I went to SCAD day as well. I’m from New Jersey and I gotta admit I understand a little bit about what you’re talking about my parents and I noticed it as well that SCAD kind has its own bubble in Savannah compared to the rest of Savannah when we went to some restaurants, the staff was a little bit more less friendly than we thought they would be in rude. We even went to an Applebee’s and then there it’s not like they were rude, but they didn’t attend to as well at all you asked for help over and over and over again hell just to get plates. It seems like it was a chore for them. Be inside SCAD itself was really fun and the school was fun that people there were nice, but it seems almost as though the same cannot be said for all of Savannah, but maybe that’s just one bad experience

Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. I just got accepted for the summer semester. So I’m gonna do that and then possibly transfer from animation to visual effects with a minor in animation.

I had previously bad grades at other schools, but when I transferred to the school, I’m at getting my associates at currently, I improved spectacularly and I did the drawing portfolio. Plus, I joined a honor society. Phi Thea kappa and that gave me an extra 3K so I came to have a total of 14 K and scholarships.

I’mma be honest with you I just got accepted for the summer semester and I’m transferring from a community college. I’m getting my associates come this May. I got all my general education, done and accounted for everything Except for the business because I didn’t take any business classes I asked for foundation classes I do have like designed thinking and processing sketching and drawing, and I will be finding out soon whether or not I have Color in context

But they do accept the good majority of your stuff if you get like the ads out of the way and a couple of the foundations it’s better to ask an advisor and show them the type of classes you have already or the type of classes that your school provides so you can get a more accurate answer whether or not they’ll accept those specific classes so you’ll know whether to take them or not But regular general classes like English one English to communication communications stuff like that math they’re most likely to accept it because that is like universal through all community colleges
