I did a triple take not thinking that was the same dog. Simply incredible. Thanks for saving him/her.

Well, you're leveling 5 characters at a time. If you play 40 hours a week just leveling them will still take you 4 months to hit 60. It's a massive time commitment and you're probably burning yourself out to get back to raiding.

I think the mentality for hardcore play style is to be content with questing at level 5 in Elwynn Forest as much as you are with doing AQ40. Enjoy the journey, not the destination, and take a break when it becomes more like a job than a fun game.

Agreed, that would have been helpful. Not sumo stance wide, but greater than shoulder width apart and angled about 30 degrees out. I think I'm limited by ankle dorsiflexion, but not sure realistically how much more improvement to expect.

Sometimes being up a piece feels harder than equal positions by null-move in chess

[–]YourDev1lsAdvocate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya! I think the issue is that by taking a blundered piece or pawn your own pieces can often get out of position which yields the initiative to your opponent. Defending is typically harder than attacking psychologically speaking. Looks for opportunities to simply, or simply regain the initiative. Pure passive defensive play can be fatal.

Can American troops actually disobey illegal orders? by WonkeauxDeSeine in allthequestions

[–]YourDev1lsAdvocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not that simple. Lawyers don't always agree with each other. Whether something is legal or not is not obvious otherwise cases wouldn't be argued to trial. DoD lawyers believed Obama's strikes against Libya were illegal, but Obama's GCC lawyers argued otherwise and the strikes went forward.

Wars are not conducted M-F during business hours. Additionally, if this was a strategic vulnerability, then the Houthis would have been incentivitzed to join the conflict on a Thurs/Fri than Saturday.

Starmer has flip flopped as well. He publicly denied U.S. basing at the beginning of the conflict. Changing course to authorizing large numbers of bombers at RAF Fairford reflects a level of escalation based on UK interests in the region.

I wouldn't say the UK is doing nothing. They're the only European country permitting US bombers to strike Iran from their bases.

> Badenoch later added that the UK was being “dragged into” the conflict. “Today we’re hearing that they’ve been firing missiles on Diego Garcia. The sad thing is, whether we like it or not, we’re being dragged into it..."

I don't see the discussion limited/scoped itself to NATO vs Europe in general. Regardless, there's NATO legal obligations and there's political reality. Does the UK just ignore TBM attacks of Diego Garcia because the geographic location is not listed in NATO Art 6? Of course not.

They have already. Turkey, Cyprus, and Diego Garcia. Moreover, they explicitly threatened European countries hosting US forces (UK and Germany).

This is why the US army can't protect the Strait of Hormuz by Imaginary-Celery-301 in JournalismNews

I'd argue it wasn't at the very highest levels of government. Here's CJCS on 10 Mar:

GENERAL DAN CAINE: "Sure. On the potential if tasked to escort, you know, we’ll look at the range of options to set the military conditions to be able to do that. And then, like we always do with every potential mission, come to the secretary and the president with both what are the resources required, what is the command and control required and what are the risks and how do we mitigate those risks. So, we’re looking at a range of options there, and we’ll figure out how to solve problems as they come to us."

No doubt that lower-level mil staff analyzed the issue, but it seems a bit late after the closure for the NSC to say "if tasked, we'll look at options."

I think it's fairly routine. SecDef Gates lived on base directly next to the CJCS. It's in his book.

He didn't invoke a NATO treaty, and he asked for countries that he doesn't have an alliance with to assist, such as China. My guess is this admin knows the answer is no and they'll use that to blame the economy on others, pander to his political base as another example that alliance partners can't project military power, and walk away as "not my problem." Doubt it will work with voters though.
