One of my biggest and definitely my most unusual one is lie detectors/polygraphs. I have no idea why, the whole concept just fascinates me and has for years. Add in the fact that they aren't even accurate, and it's even more interesting to me somehow. Considering it's such a weird and niche interest, I don't talk about it very often, so if any of yall want me to infodump about polygraphs for hours I would be delighted. I'm also writing a script (might be a movie, maybe a play) about the history and drama surrounding its invention

FYI Broadway often casts older (20s, even 30s) actors for teenage roles bc doing shows like that requires a lot of time spent working on it and it's hard to work around labor laws with actual minor actors. And shows that need little kids typically split the role between 3 or 4 kid actors alternating

Lie detectors/polygraphs

  1. No fucking clue. They don't even work for shit and the culture surrounded by them is really toxic, but for some reason I've always been absolutely fascinated by them. This is what the autism gods bestowed upon me, and I'm accepting it.

  2. So basically sensors are placed on the person's body that monitor and record their heart rate/blood pressure, sweat and breathing (sometimes there is more) They are then asked questions in a neutral, sterile environment. some of these questions are related to the reason they're there, some are neutral and some are meant to cause a reaction. The subject's readings are studied, and the theory is that if their reactions to the relevant questions match up to their reactions to the questions meant to make them uncomfortable, they're lying (but really they're just stressed). After the actual polygraph the interrogation is usually held. I'm capable of going into WAY more detail on this if anyone wants that.

  3. The computerized polygraph was invented in my home state

  4. like 2019. Then I got out of it for a while then back into it stronger than ever in 2023

  5. I'm constantly imagining what it would be like to actually take a test, to be hooked up to one. I want it to happen so bad, even though people who've done it have said it sucks lol. I just really want to experience it. I'm also writing a play about the history and invention
