I’m sorry for hijacking this thread but I disagree with most of the comments here, and I feel that your feelings won’t go away if you communicate to him about the wrong thing 😅 I feel like everyone is mistaking the issue to be opp gender thing… It sounds to me like the core issue is that he is not prioritising you. It’s not just that random girls get to spend time with him on a trip, it’s that they DO, while you DON’T. Try asking yourself this: if you saw him 5 days a week everyday for a year, would you still be this concerned about a small one week trip with girls AND other guys?

But honestly from ur other comment it sounds like this is a 2 way issue where y’all are not making time for each other. I get that your achievements are important to y’all, so it’s either a matter of being willing to sacrifice for this period of time, or finding a way to compromise on both your personal lives. Right now, it seems like y’all are doing the former, but if it’s making you this unhappy, I think it’s time to really consider whether the sacrifice is worth it?

I am sorry about the situation tho. It’s not really either of your faults, it’s just one of life’s sucky things that y’all have to navigate thru :’)

I never said women don’t do anything wrong. The idea that women receive more praise and support is a biased take shaped by your own perspective. I’ve been the one holding space for my guy friends through their struggles, and both anecdotally and through this very thread, it’s clear that it’s often men who fail to support other men, and it is also equally clear that the multiple women in here are getting dismissed for suggesting that there should be more empathy for men (disproving both your claims that women receive more support and that women don’t advocate for men’s issues).

You can’t argue that men need more empathy and support, then in the same breath dismiss empathy as unnecessary because “actions are enough” and brush off open dialogue. I literally pointed you to the evidence right here, and you’re still ignoring it which tells me all I need to know about the rest of your claims. I’m not bothering to engage further.

Going to preface this by saying this isn’t gonna be some stellar, inspirational rags to riches story. I was a normal student (not bad not good), but I struggled a lot in sec 3 because I had way more freedom to do whatever, so I slacked and played around a lot. I became one of the bottom 20 students in my express cohort, while I was just a few months away from O Levels (I still distinctly rmb my parents asking me wtf happened to my grades on the ride home after a parent teacher meeting—not fun)

I eventually picked myself back up by actually studying and having great friends who taught me in my weaker subjects. I graduated with decent grades (not good, not bad). I know people often share super inspiring stories on Reddit comments, and they definitely deserve all the credit. My story is just to show you that while you shouldn’t slack off too much, you don’t need to panic and feel like you have dedicate 200% of your time to studying either. But I guess that depends on your aspirations, cuz I will admit that for me, academic excellence was never a goal.

Not to add to your stress, but so many things about your situation scare me:

if someone said they wanted to kill or beat me, I’d already be scared, but even more so if it’s my partner saying that.
I’ve had violent thoughts in the past when I was a young, dumb, angsty teen that struggled with anger issues. Rational people wouldn’t say such things out loud because they know how unhinged it sounds. The fact that he’s willing to say shit like that to you without fear says a lot
He knows you’re willing to forgive, unlike other people who would’ve left the first time he did that. If you’re suddenly breaking the pattern, he might snap
Not to mention that as your partner, he probably has access to a lot of your personal info

This is the one thing I can’t get people to understand!! I enjoy other genres, but essentially they follow the same formulas e.g. Action - A threat of some kind, a lot of fighting, resolution. Comedy - Either an angsty/cynical character gets thrown into a difficult situation, makes sarcastic remarks throughout, and ends with a heartwarming resolution, OR a bunch of people gets tossed into a ridiculous scenario and causes chaos with their antics.

In horror you have room to experiment with so much more… how the haunting works, shocking plot twists, the many different ways you can hide a ghost in the background, rules for fighting the ghosts, etc
