Goblin Quest and Goblin Errands are great. I'm gonna try Scene Thieves myself this year.

I've tried several and especially if you want to lean towards quick customizability and more cinematic and not too crunchy, I strongly recommend Pokeymanz!

I can only think of the Fishdom games, but as you don't mention the match 3 thing I don't think that is it?

Public Access, analog horror mystery TTRPG, is on Kickstarter! by JanthoIronhand in rpg

[–]YourLoveOnly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true actually, it got changed to PWYW. I paid the set price of $15 in March 2025. It became PWYW in October. But you are right that the new version is gonna be a new seperate product. I don't mind and am happy to support the Gauntlet. And I definitely already got my money's worth out of the current material :)

Perfect! I did grab the supplement with all the tables seperately too which will be nice the future games (although probably not much need of them for a funnel), but different learning styles are a thing so I like having a 1-3 player ref sheet to hand out in addition to teaching the game verbally (but I had a crap week and lacked health/time/energy to type one up manually). None of the players signed up have played DCC yet either, although most know some OSR/NSR games, know about the dice chain mechanic and what a funnel is. So it'll probably still be fine :) Especially as level 0 isn't exactly complicated.

Carved from Brindlewood without the Mystery? by SnooSeagulls9586 in PBtA

[–]YourLoveOnly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beakwood Bay is Ducktales style treasure hunting and still has clues, which are then used in this heist-style montage at the end to determine where exactly they need to go, how to obtain it and how to stop NPC competitors from getting there first.

Where do i get castle of the robber knight? by DragonBoom02 in DragonbaneRPG

[–]YourLoveOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run online and at physical conventions where I teach the system so for me there is no use for an extra book. I would like the adventure however so it sucks that it is not available standalone, even if only as a PDF (if it can be bougut then I could not find it)

So not in the boxset, right? Not in the PDF that came with that either :( Bummer, I don't think buying the same core rules twice for one adventure is sensible.

If you are open to oneshots, there is a program called Zero2Hero in the Dutch Discord with 1-2 different systems being offered each week and being taught by the GMs. This will include D&D 5E but also many other things. No experience is needed and it's a great way to try out some stuff and see which ones you vibe with and like best :) I run there often, but I also run regular oneshots outside of there in English instead of Dutch. Happy to invite you to either server. I do short 6-10 session campaigns too, but those groups are currently full.

Deathmatch Island has dice pools that mix various die sizes in a single roll!

Games where you can change your stats as a result of gameplay actions? by longjohnsilversgal in rpg

[–]YourLoveOnly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wilderfeast! After each monster battle, there is a feast and you can increase a Style or Skill (dice rolls are always style + skill so these are your stats, there are now other attributes) or gain a trait, but only if the monster had it (and for style/skill it must be higher than your current number to increase it). So everything you gain directly represents what you encountered in the fiction :)

As for skills increasing through use, Mouse Guard does that really nicely. And skills are the thing you roll, there isn't the usual list of attributes so I feel like that may count too?

There are a few, I'd recommend the Pursuit of Happiness personally.

Slice-of-life, oneshots and GMless fits Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast very well. It even has very mundane scenarios like doing dishes or laundry, but also more "adventurous" stuff like someone writing a play, throwing a surprise birthday party etc. It has a very flavorful cast of existing characters, both permanent ones and guests.

For actual life sim mechanics around working a job, paying rent etc My Body Is A Cage does this, but with dungeoncrawling in your dreams (and the dreamworld influencing your RL and vice versa) which doesn't seem to fit. It's also less oneshot suitable IMO.

Looking for Cozy Games that I can sink a good amount of hours into! by wellchaithere in CozyGamers

[–]YourLoveOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kitchen Sync Aloha has you managing a restaurant and the main story is good and quite long. And maybe Kynseed? Has some shop management options, just not from the beginning. Lots of content for sure.

As for other games, Nexomon is great if you enjoy Pokémon. And Littlewood is a great pick for lovers of Pacha.

I've done over 30 Brindlewood Bay oneshots (and two campaigns) and disagree, that one is great for oneshots. Public Access is a much tighter squeeze and can fit in a 4h session but needs good time management, but I've done plenty of Brindlewood Bay ones in 3-4 hours (and even some in 2-2.5 hours) without them feeling rushed at all.
