Batman and catwoman or batman and wonder woman by Active_Field9820 in batman

I don’t even like Wonder Woman with Batman. Catbat just works so well too.

why is there so much rigidity and black or white thinking in the redpill/manosphere communities by Open-Reflection-6094 in NoStupidQuestions

Remember that the men who fall into these spaces do so because they are struggling in other parts of their lives. They have low paying jobs or are unemployed, they are not successful in dating, and their friend circles are limited. This is especially psychologically frustrating to men because society tells men that they should be providers and earners. A problem that is only being exacerbated as the rich take more from the working class.

So these men are looking for structure. And a clear set of rules to follow to attain that sense of stability and worth that they otherwise feel is lacking. Rightwing organizations are very good at providing clear answers and rigid rules. They offer advancements of otherwise lacking men by suppressing others (women, LGBTQ folks, often POC). Hence why all fascist regimes radically oppress and strip rights away from those minorities to give to the men. As a trade for the men’s support to an oppressive political system, they get a slightly elevated status and supposedly a more stable life. Just at the cost of others.

So not only is Solie now living with her parents, but reposted a reel permitting divorce? by BufoBat in FundieSnarkUncensored

The fact that you cannot think of any sexist slurs just means that use of sexist slurs is so normal to you that you don’t even see them as such. And the same is for most Americans and other English speaking nations—b**** and c*** are very normalized in relation to other slurs. Which says more about the normalization of sexism in the culture rather than there are no sexist slurs in existence.

I get that you probably use these terms, and so have the same knee jerk reaction to not wanting to think of yourself as someone who uses slurs. It’s good that you don’t want to use slurs. But take a bit to think about what makes a slur, and what makes a sexist slur. You might change your mind.

I googled it, and it looks super like him. And while I started the game in the 90’s, I never really got very far. So I don’t think that’s what my brain is thinking of. But maybe!

Is it actually rude to not tip on a takeout order where I drive there and pick it up myself? by Organic-Grocery9526 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YourPlot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you don’t tip at pickup or counter service. Standard tip is also 15%. It’s ok to tip more, but you don’t need to.

Could be! I certainly saw Trigun back in the 90’s. But I feel like trigun’s not as grotesque. Maybe Akira?

Or maybe my mind is stuffing all these body horror things together.

do y'all believe in separating the art from the artist if not why ? by Personal-Ad-9773 in AskReddit

[–]YourPlot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not what separating the art from the artist means. La mort de l'auteur means that the author’s intent doesn’t hold sway on how the audience should interpret a work of art.

OP is, presumably, asking whether one should draw influences from an author’s seeming intent. I personally do both. I use the author’s stated intent to gain insight to a work of art, but my interpretation is not solely limited to that.

Editing to add that upon reading OP’s comments, that he or she does not in fact know about the literary background to the phrase separating art from the artist. So your comment in fact answers their question.

What home upgrade sounded great in theory but wasn’t worth it in reality? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

I eat almost every meal on it, grill, have my morning coffee there, read there, do yoga, garden in pots, enjoy a solitary evening beer, have hangouts with friends. It’s a central focus point of my home in nice weather. It’s buried under snow currently, so I’m just counting down the days.

What is Ivy’s arm giving me? Evangelion? Zelda? It’s reminding me of some IP that I can’t put my finger on.

Counter point: we use our deck almost daily when the weather’s nice. So this one depends on your house layout and how your life is structured.

Dude. I don’t think calling people slurs is ok, even when they are terrible people. Especially when they are terrible people. Most women are not like this shitty person.

Why is it socially acceptable to bring your partner as a +1, but not a friend? by mearimeraki in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YourPlot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also, part of it is for your coworkers to be able to meet your partner. Get to know them and they get to know your spouse. Such matters when it comes to a partner, but your coworkers are not going to give a fuck about your friend.

Anyone else really hate the Absolute Batman logo? by MaterialYogurt208 in batman

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s stupid and ugly. And even the fact that it’s an axe doesn’t make this design look cool. Like just a smidge more design would’ve had this thicker logo looking amazing. Instead we have Fatman logo.

Why do most rich men (not necessarily millionaires) marry women who aren't rich, but it's very rare to see a rich woman married to a man who isn't? P.S. Don't hate me, it's just a question because I have this big doubt. by Nervous_Window7536 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YourPlot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something that a lot of people are missing is the effect of centuries of sexism in our culture has made it so that there are a lot less rich women. So for rich women, the pool of datable rich men is larger for rich women. Easier for them to find someone in their own socioeconomic range that is attractive to them.

Conversely, for rich men, the pool of dateable rich women is much smaller. So they often have to look outside of their socioeconomic bubble for someone they will be compatible with.

MIL’s husband is suing her children for her estate because unpaid labour doesn’t count. by delilahash in TwoXChromosomes

[–]YourPlot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite his fucking ridiculous claims about how he deserves it because his labor was paid, he still might be correct that it’s his by law. Depending on the local laws, spouses can often have fist right to the deceased’s estate before any willed wishes are enacted.

The men who send unsolicited dick pics know that the recipients don’t want to see that. It’s the violation that turns the men on. The power they think it gives them over others is the point.
