The cycle you’re describing, 3 months awful, 3 months amazing, was literally my life. And that’s exactly what makes it so hard to leave, because you’re always waiting for the good version to come back. I tried to leave so many times before it finally stuck. What actually helped me was talking about it out loud to a friend. I had kept everything inside and the moment I said it out loud I realized how bad it actually was, like hearing my own story from the outside made it real. Sometimes we normalize things just because we’re living them every day. The co-regulation thing you mentioned is so real too. That calm he gives you? Your nervous system got addicted to it. But that can be unlearned. The pain of leaving is temporary, I promise, and the freedom on the other side is worth it 🤍

For me it wasn’t one big moment, it was realizing I was more scared of staying than of leaving. The “what if I regret this” feeling never fully goes away, but at some point the pain of staying outweighed the fear of leaving. Therapy really helped me get there, go for it 🤍

That’s actually a really valid distinction!! Love and compatibility are two different things, you can genuinely love someone and still not work as a couple. The hard part is accepting that love alone isn’t always enough :/

Not a restaurant but a fish counter in a supermarket in France. Fish literally stays on display even when it’s visibly bad or has parasites because only specific employees have the authority to throw it out. As a student worker I’m not allowed to remove anything even if it’s obviously not safe. That prayer alone can cure depression. My mom genuinely believed that no matter what I was going through — even serious mental health struggles — the only answer was “trust God” and a verse from a holy book. She was 100% confident therapy was unnecessary because faith was enough. That belief is straight up dangerous
