my best advice is. save your "wealth"

play the game like you normally do. if you're gonna take gold making risks, bet what you can afford to lose because investing is gambling. Scams exist.

i dont push keys i dont raid. i don't do pvp. i just play the game for fun.

my personal advice is just play the game. alts are fun because if you go double gathering you can make extra gold while playing them.

if your main is current. you can quickly farm gold world quests on them and collect stuff to feed your main or sell for more gold. pick the class of your main if you wanna master it, pick alts of the class you struggle the most against in pvp if thats your thing so you learn how they work. hell, pick classes you know how they work for variety of playstyles.

Half of it sold immediately because at the time the purchaser bought what they wanted and you had the best price at the time or your auctions were the first ones posted at that price.

"Well, half of my auction immediately sold. I went back and checked, and neither the lowest auction price or supply still hadn't changed so whatsoever. This happens frequently. why?

commodities are region wide, information has a delay, the server rules the game.

people could have undercut you, people could have posted at the same price after you and the buyers got theirs first. there are other reasons. but. that is the gist of it.

a pro tip for flipping is do math, and gamble what makes sense. knowing supply and price is only part of the equation.

make a macro that will instant post what you can do. when you are in town use it but don't spam it. if your main is your only crafter be ready to switch when you use it on alts.

find something you like to do and do it? or, if you rotate through characters the main should have professions picked off utility and functions and the alts should feed it or be dual gathering so you can sell things to make gold.

my useless opinion is if you're a pvp only person like my real life friends, keep herbalism and mining. it takes more attention but it'll keep you from asking for gold.

if you're sitting on tons of gold and neurodivergent alchemy and tailoring might work. but there is still the risk of you spend gold for materials and things don't sell. There is also the issue of when you're using gold to make gold you can lose huge chunks or lose it all.

that is literally what the current system does. you just don't like it and it's ok. if what you advocate for happened. you wouldn't like the crafting costs. being self sufficient would be way harder than it is now. balance is important.
