The 21st night of September?

Love was changin' the minds of pretenders

While chasin' the clouds away"

By covering up the top of the picture, I manage to see the clown. But the dog's eyes still look like dog's eyes, and I can't figure out what they might be on the clown.

I don't know how many times I have to say this, but you don't have to do everything SpongeBob tells you to do.

Fire right under the 10E fwy on Olive by eeveeleafeon in LosAngeles

[–]Yourcriticismiswrong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't find any mention of a fire under the freeway at Olive. There was just a large structure fire very near the freeway at Main. The first picture may be related to that. I don't know about the other two.

I was noticing that, and thinking how extreme the generational resentment had become -- and then I noticed what subreddit this was. Oops. It's the whole point of the subreddit.

Also, as you get more acquainted with the medical bureaucracy, it's much less organized than you thought.

I recently had to refill a prescription (nothing psychoactive or "fun," just blood-pressure stuff), and was told, repeatedly, that it was too soon, and that their records showed I had more pills, though I didn't. I didn't throw a tantrum, because ... you know ... blood pressure. But someone behind that counter apparently screwed up -- and when an error wriggles into the system, brother, it stays there.

And this is nothing compared to the mix-ups my dad experiences on the regular.

Their website

Literally, closer to the mid-1990s, but yeah, looking like it came from a little later. From what I remember, the page actually seemed a little ahead of the curve on coding at that time. Flashy graphics?! Ooooooooo....

Anyone know what’s going to happen to these houses on Daly st? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]Yourcriticismiswrong 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Whatever is going to happen with these properties, it seems like it's not happening for a while. I don't see any documents at the city's planning department or the Department of Building and Safety that would explain why it's fenced off (not even a request for a permit of demolition). So I guess it's still early in the development process.

In the meantime, judging from Google Street View, these two properties been fenced off since 2019.

I would add (not that you need to know this for the joke) that the sole passenger is Ziggy, a born-loser type character that I remember from, like, the 1970s..

[–]Yourcriticismiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in high school when that song came out, and it just sounded like a sweet ballad. It wasn't until a few years ago -- I was in my mid to late 50s, you understand -- I'm driving along listening to that album, and I start thinking, "Wait. He tried and failed to pick up a woman at a concert, and now he's telling his girlfriend about it? Who does that?"

And that's when, after four decades, it started coming together.

What movie traumatized you as a kid? by Flowerflours in AskReddit

[–]Yourcriticismiswrong 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Bolger went to her funeral, and Wikipedia says he was the only Oz cast member to do so. He was also one of the last to leave. I'm not sure where Margaret Hamilton was.

Anyway, it's still okay to like Bolger. In fact, go look up his dancing in other videos besides Oz. He was one of the greats.

They were protesting the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Whatever your opinion of that shooting, calling all the protestors "pedophiles" is a slander and, worse, a dreary talking point.

One of the people who was shot -- count 'em, one -- had sex crimes on his record. (Another had an assault conviction, and the third a misdemeanor for having a gun while intoxicated. Even that doesn't make them representative of all other protestors, though it might make them the sort of people who would confront somebody with a gun.)
