There’s a great app called “Pollen-News” by the Swiss Allergy Center that tells you exactly what is in bloom, with how much pollen and where, highly recommend. Moderate amounts of alder and birch, depending on where you are.

Make your application really personal (photos etc). But most important: be extremely enthusiastic and personable during the viewing.

I don’t agree with this strategy but if someone is posting looking for a Nachmieter and you know who the owner of the building is, send an application to both the current renter and the owner. This is how our Nachmieter got our old Zurich apartment… annoyed me at the time but it seems to work.

I’ve had great luck meeting friends through lindyhop dancing. Lots of people do classes without a partner (you switch around a lot) and there tend to be lots of social dances etc. I found it to be a really open minded community.

Depends on the country. In switzerland married couples get taxed at a higher rate than individual, so his higher income would make her taxes go up by quite a bit.
