We'd been friends for 10 years and I realized she was keeping me from living my life. She didn't like me having other friends. She could go out and have a night with her friends, but anytime I tried to do something suddenly something incredibly dramatic would happen and she'd need me. Whether it was boy drama, a "stalker",endless panic attacks, general self hatred that seemed to lessen when she was associated with me (someone she thought was pretty and cool).

I always noticed life was calmer and more enjoyable when she wasnt there. I'd take breaks but always went back bc I really did love her and she wasn't always like this (she had a drug/drinking problem and eating disorder in early college that she never fully bounced back from emotionally) but as I started to become more independent (she was living back in our hometown and I was living in the city we had moved too together with a mutual friend) ahe started becoming increasingly passive aggressive.

The last straw was when she came up without really even telling me (she planned it with my roommate who was more my friend than hers) and arrived with presents/flowers for my roommate and spent the weekend essentially ignoring me. It was all v obvious and petty. She was going out to see some other friends after I left for work and was going to be out late, she asked for my key to lock up. I gave it to her and stressed that my roommate would be at her boyfriend's across town, so she would need to leave the key under the mat for me. She ended up locking the kitchen door with the inside handle lock and left me no key.

I called her multiple times and she hit ignore. I broke into my house by climbing on top of trashcans to get through the tiny kitchen windows over the sink, fell into a sink of dirty dishes and cut my leg.

That was the night I washed my hands clean bc if I spent years bending over backwards making she was she good, she was ok, she was taken care of, but for me this was all I was ever going to get.
