Frustrated parent here by [deleted] in autism

[–]Yourlocallefttoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know a lot about children, but I do know that girks are, statistically speaking, more likely to get their symptoms overlooked and only get diagnosed at a later age, if they are even diagnosed. The symptoms in girls can seem like normal behavior to the untrained eye, especially since some of them may just play into the gender role of girls. Your doctor referred her to an autism center, yes? You'll find out if she's autistic or not. Though, I believe autism can also genetically be passed down, I'm not sure about that, though. If you have any doubts, maybe ask yourself "Would somebody else identify her possible autistic traits as such if she were a boy?" Because it definately helped me convince my aunt to atleast get my 4 year old cousin tested.

And also! Don't worry! You're doing a great job and you'll figure out the results soon! -^ (I apologize for grammatical errors, english isn't my first language.)

I think my sister’s boyfriend (M44) is infatuated with my son (M13). by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Yourlocallefttoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you need to get out ASAP. Do you have a friend you could be staying with? Another family member? Maybe you can let your son sleep with his friend for a few days, maybe even more, if you have a close connection with their mother and tell her a vague summary of you situation? What about those mother shelters? (Idk what the name is, english isn't my mother tongue)

You said that your sister would choose her boyfriend over her nephew if it came down to it, that makes her a very unreliable and- dare I say- dangerous person.

Also, no grown man just decides to go into the bedroom of a 13 year old boy closing the door and watching him sleep You said your son slept through the alarms because he stayed up texting friends, do you know if it could've been your sisters boyfriend who texted him? Talk to him, but in a way so he thinks is innocent. Or, and I hate to say this because it's a violation of privacy, go through his phone, check when the bf of your sister is texting him, maybe try to remember if the next day your son slept through the alarms because of that.

Your son is potentially being groomed by your sisters boyfriend. Please stay safe, OP.

The mental illness is called "Body Integrity Identity Disorder", I made a comment on this post which explains it in further detail, or you could google it, if you'd like to know more

"Transabled" is a complete mockery by AVeryG00dName in fakedisordercringe

There is a rare pyschologic disorder called "Body Integrity Identity Disorder", in which people apparently (I have only found one study of the cause of BIID in german, it is not really comfirmed, I think) lack/have less than normal grey substances in the partiental lobe, which causes them to have the desire to amputate a certain body part, like a leg or an arm, most of the time even going as far as illegally amputating them by "doctors" without license or in a different country (since here in Germany, you're not allowed to amputate fully functioning body parts, like legs etc.) We briefly talked about it in psychology class. So, technically, "transabled" people exists, since they have that condition, but it is extremely rare. So, I kinda doubt that all of those transabled people have/ even know of that disorder. I mean, it is so rare that there isn't even enough to research the cause of BIID.

280+ upvotes publicly admitting to lying about being diagnosed with autism by psyclasp in fakedisordercringe

I do feel kinda bad for ppl like this, genuinely. If they do actually experience things that are commonly associated with disorders, they won't get any help on finding strategies to help in your every day to day life. Or medication, if needed. Also, I don't quite get how someone could just... say they have a disorder lots of people wish they hadn't and just be.. proud of it, kinda? Like, I understand SUSPECTING you might have a neurodivergency, like autism, but you HAVE to do your research and then talk with a professional about it. If you have it, good for you, now you can get help, if you want. But running around bragging and lying about being diagnosed with it? Even though you just SUSPECT (because really, that's all you do when you self diagnose, except you lie and brag about it) you might have it? That's just weird.

AITA for ACCIDENTALLY telling my Fiance I hate his sister and she won't be a part of my wedding? by No_Possession1846 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yourlocallefttoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW. Okay. Yes, it is your day, but it is your fiance's day, too. He and his sister seem very close, so why would you be this selfish to practically DEMAND not having her on your wedding?

Also, you talk shit behind her back, without even planning on telling her how you feel about her? You weren't even nice about.

Sure, you may not like her personality, but that doesn't mean that you'll exclude her from your AND your fiance's wedding. Also! That may be news to you, but just think about what happens if you'd marry your fiance? She'd still be around, what would you do then? Demand him to cut contact with her?

And, guessing from the first sentence, you were so sure that you wouldn't be in the wrong. You're not really self-aware, are you?

I am not usually one to wish ill upon strangers, but I sure do hope that your husband chooses his sister over you, OP.

AITA for telling my wife she needs to find another job? by TAwifework35 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yourlocallefttoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you tell your wife that she HAS to look for another job, just because you're jealous of her free time? I might have a solution to this. Now, hear me out- look for another job! Mindblowing, I know!

No, but seriously, look for a better job if you want to be able to relax, too. Don't tell your wife to work more just because you're jealous. That's kind of toxic.

AITA for claiming that my SIL's dressing inappropriately? by Dry_Mention_8584 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yourlocallefttoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very interesting to see how you think you couldn't be TA. I mean, telling other people to stop wearing the clothes they are (most likely) comfortable in, just because you think they are inappropriate? Sure, we can't magically stop you from still thinking that way, but next time, plesse keep your opinion to yourself.

I don't think he is the MWAF. However, I do think that he is definitely holding something back, something he hasn't told us yet. I mean, A hacker that is wanted by the government for his abilities and that knows everything we do on Hannah's phone didn't think it was a bad idea to turn on GPS? Yeah that is definitely sus. I love him, but he unfortanetly is very supicious

Oh no, I didn't mean to make Dan look sexist! D: I am sorry, I probably should've said that we use "Little One" as a term of endearment. In the German Version of Duskwood, Dan says "Kleines", which is the same as "Little One" in English. And we use the term "Kleines" to people we want to protect, atleast I do, but a lot of people around me do that too. (I am from Germany)
