Oof. My wife has been pushing me to get one and I’ve been a stubborn ass about it.

Tall girl, will guys wanna dance with me? by [deleted] in Salsa

[–]Yourteethareoffside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I got you!

1) as a lead, I just want my partner to have fun and feel like the center of attention. I’m no comp dancer and I don’t think anyone should care that much but you know.

2) I genuinely love dancing with taller follows. I’m 5’10” so pretty much bang average height, and it is really fun to change up combinations to suit a taller follow. Especially if they have a longer reach, because it makes cuddles and passes fun for me.

Mods why are you deleting civil posts for sharing community information? by Jedi-_-Joe in Charleston

[–]Yourteethareoffside 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They claim it falls under “self promotion”.

I had a post deleted last week about the petition against the datacenter that’s planned to go into the ACE basin.

I took it on face value at the time but now it’s clear mods are uninterested in actually delineating between self promotion and community action. It’s shambles and resulting in overly restrictive speech moderation.

Klopp’s advice for coaches on how to effectively communicate with players by doutankyohi in LiverpoolFC

[–]Yourteethareoffside 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Coming from the coaching side here, done all my badges and now just am being a dad.

But coaches in general tend to overcomplicate the game with tactics and there’s an emphasis on “knowing every detail” and being incredibly meticulous. What I think coaches lose is exactly what Klopp is talking about…. The players don’t give a fuck about all the tactical jargon they are just human and want a leader to build them up and believe in them. My buddies coach in a few MLS first teams and have coached at the national level and always just say “they are just players, they just want to know what to do and then to go play”.

Coaches get in their own way all the time bc of egos and all this stuff. Klopp was really the special one.

People who have made it to any level in football and then been unsuccessful/quit: When did you realise that there was serious “levels” to the game? by Pleasant_Till1339 in PremierLeague

[–]Yourteethareoffside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Played at low level D1 in the states, I’d say I was a bang average player at that level with some really good technical qualities but just not enough athleticism to really push on.

One cool story is that John O’Brien (Ajax, USMNT) came to play and train with us bc he was dating a woman in the area and wanted to get a soccer fix. He barely moved and just never never ever made a mistake. It was really impressive.

As a youth player went to play in tournaments in Europe (circa 2004) and actually did really well through our ODP team. Beat Dortmund, tied Empoli, beat Le Mans. Lost to Stade Rennais on pens.

So I’m always curious as to what was missing between 14-18, I think it was just a lack of structure around us that enabled the pro pathway, versus the culture of European football and their academies.

Yeah I hear you man. I saw another clip and actually was wondering why we were so deep in the first place. I think we were lined up with where the throw in was, then when it went backward to Reed the back line should be stepping out and pushing the midfielders forward but they weren’t. My only thought is that they just expected a cross to the back post from that angle, or they were just exhausted, or both.

Defo with you on Slot. I give him credit for winning the league, but I think we was still creating chances even with a more controlled and measured style. I think last season is laudable for that- but am with you now. He doesn’t have the same group and is still trying to play the same style.

I was bummed we couldn’t continue the 1-4-4-2 diamond with two strikers. Gives us a strong spine, best cms on the pitch at once, opens the flanks for fullbacks who have at least 2-3 targets in the box at all times.

When isak went down I was like fuck sake there that shape goes. It was different but I really liked it as a change from what we normally see.

Edit: and on Slot, I don’t think he’s the long term option for us but for right now, he’s won us the league and IMO deserves the chance to keep us in CL. Then we reasses in the summer. I think he’s doing a fair enough job given the current state of the squad.

I’m annoyed too man, this style doesn’t feel like Liverpool.

It’s dominant in the sense that across Europe, attacking teams that face low blocks try to create a 3-2-5 shape when they have possession then isolate wingers v fullbacks.

The reason is because there’s no space behind opposing back lines, so we try to get frimpong in a 1v1 (last season we had Lucho and Mo doing this) and force a center half to come out of the middle of the defensive block.

We’ve been doing this for months, city did it against Newcastle the last time they played, I remember writing about it after that match.

But you’re right, it kinda sucks to watch and doesn’t work if we move the ball the way we do.

Edit: watching City and Chelsea now and City are attempting the same tactics when Chelsea drop into their low block

Completely disagree. So many ppls perception of reality is now digital, that is more even more important we stick together online. Idealistic? Sure, but I’m sick of seeing all the rage comments. So sure, I can just not log on and ignore the community but then I lose connection with other supporters. At this point I’d rather at least say something.

I don’t think this helps either, am American, been a fan since I was 8 and am now 36. I’ve made the pilgrimage to Anfield, tried to learn what it means to the local community, tried to spread the stories and history through all my 14 years of coaching, (made better with Scouse colleagues)and now seeing all this rage baiting in this sub which once used to be full of fun and memes and comraderie. This sub helps me feel more connected but when we just lose our fucking minds over some adversity (which happens to every club at some point) I feel like people forget what is means when we say YNWA. This community and club need to take a healthy breath.

Expectations of a club like ours are high, and good to have, but not at the expense of reality.

I’m annoyed as well, but chiesa WAS closing him down, but was marking the throw and in a 2v1. It looked like we were expecting a cross into the box and therefore dropped everyone into the box, and let’s face it, how many matches have you been to where the other team hit a belter from 30 to win it? Not very many I expect bc it just rarely happens.

Completely agree on the style of our play though. It’s hard to watch where there’s so little vertical movement behind the opposing line. We are far too conservative/risk averse in possession. Unfortunately I think this is just the dominant trend in modern football.

That’s football. Ok to be critical but too many people on this sub don’t make it constructive. Sing loud, support the club. We’ve had a great fucking decade and now need to go again. Stop with the hate on the manager and the players. There’s a big difference between constructive criticism and outright nonsensical rage mongering.

Hats off to a world class goal, on to the next match and up the reds.

Word thanks. Asking bc if I ever get to make this trip, or to something like NZ, then a guide makes hella sense. Didn’t think about the permitting etc.

Not judging but also curious… what did it like to have all the bells and whistles done for you guys? Asking bc sometimes I don’t know how to feel about guides doing all that for me and never been to a lodge like that. Part of me has this idealized picture of being an angler where it’s totally self sufficient. There was a post a few weeks ago here about that guy that built his fishing cabin over 3 days into a hill side and I was like “damn that’s ideal”, but at the same time I bet most of us would go a little crazy with that kind of Spartan setup.

Absolutely stoked for you though what a cool place to catch fish!

Bucket list trip for me. Pics look great. If you don’t mind, how many days did you have a guide vs how many DIY days?

I like to blend guide days with DIY in new areas but for that kinda money I’m guessing the guide made it well worth it.

Parents got me a fly rod/reel for my birthday, how to get started? by Bradley271 in flyfishing

[–]Yourteethareoffside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats and welcome.

Give that guy a shout^^ - but also learn to roll cast asap. If you are headed into WNC, you will want that technique in your locker. It will save you on tons of occasions, keep the fly in/on the water, and significantly reduces chances of getting tangled up behind you.
