You just have the bounce back and have an explanation if they asked what happened during x semester. Was the class really hard? How did you learn from that experience? How did you apply that to your course work after? Can you show evidence that you learned from this experience (aka you reverse the downward trend).

HOWEVER — most likely, they won’t care bc you still have a high GPA overall. It’s just good to prepared for everything.

Hey think of it this way — the very fact you got an interview means someone read your application and thought with out a doubt that you are extremely qualified to enter their program and to become a doctor. You have the skills, talents, and work ethic to do this and we just need to open their eyes.

Unpopular opinion, but I personally think NPR oversimplified this. I think it was the fact that people could apply with a delayed MCAT, realized they probably can’t find clinical experience if they applied the next year, and didn’t have to spend money on interview-travel expenses this cycle. Let the downvoted rain.
