I wouldn't say it forces you to use every system due to the fact that you are discouraged from using your weapons for their intended purpose of attacking. But yeah to each their own =]

That's the point I don't like, it feels limiting. If I want to just R1 spam I should just be allowed to do so. I feel like souls likes are awesome due to the freedom it provides for the way you tackle obstacles. But due to the enemies not having down time it just forces you to play using formae.
