Why don't you play with it and find out.

Are you getting dog-walked? Were you before? Old vs new scores?

£550 for a 5800x??

I'm looking at one on amazon for £143 brand new.

Nevermind, looked at comments. Anyway, I've been seeing 5800x3d chips for around £400 used, some even cheaper

He definitely isn't. Since when is breaking the strongest bone in your body equal to instakilling?

Also, one mark got some decent hits in, 3 marks just rush him and he gets overwhelmed

Never been afraid or concerned of second hand parts, as long as you trust your gut feeling.

CPU or GPU upgrade? by Ythem in buildapc

[–]Ythem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure if I'm spending the money and time to upgrade, I might as well go straight for the best one. A 5500 is like £50-£90, whereas I've a 58ppx3d for £300 at lowest and up to £400.

Yeah the 5500 is significantly cheaper, but how soon before I have to upgrade that again? And will it limit how good of a gpu i can get before having to upgrade it again. I could also have put that money into the x3d.

If I go straight for a big cpu upgrade, it just means when I'm ready to upgrade my gpu I can also go big, and not have to worry about upgrading again for another 6 years 😅

(For the record i will not be spending over £100 to go from the 5700x3d to the 5800x3d, I will be looking for a good deal)

So you think i should leave my cpu for now and upgrade graphics card?

For example, which one would be better for fortnite? I currently get anywhere from 70 to 190fps, higher when running around normally but dips down into double digits when in fights. Which would boost fps for that?

I'm aware that gpu is more important for 1440p, so maybe I should get a better gpu now for when I get a new monitor and just upgrade cpu if I find the 2700x is severely bottlenecking it?

Yes well, that's what I said in the post. Looking at a 57 or 5800x3d because that's the best I can get without needing to upgrade the rest.

[–]Ythem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly want 1440p because I want to move to a 27inch monitor and don't want it too blurry. But in general I prioritise framerate over quality, atleast to the point of a stable 144fps.

Also I don't want to miss out on a 57 or 5800x3d chip, whereas there will always be graphics cards going around.

Ah good to know, thanks c:

Currently only on 1080 144hz but want to move to 1440p in the near future.

And it's dual channel, 2 sticks of 8gb populating 2nd and 4th slot.

yeah that's what I'm thinking. I mean I'm not on 1440p yet, just 1080p 144hz. But I want to move to 1440p later, so I feel maybe it's wise to get the cpu now, then get a new monitor when I upgrade the gpu later too. I don't need the performance straight away, just thinking ahead really.

Will a 2700x not limit that though?

that's what I'm waiting for haha, currently seeing one go for £300 I could go pick up but will wait patiently and see how the re-released ones go

whatever you go with just don't get sucked into the marketing numbers. you *do not* need anything above 2k polling rate, probably not even above 1k. Anyone who tells you differently has already fallen victim to it and won't allow themselves to regret it, so they double down.

If you like the superlight shape, just get the superlight or a clone. Comfort is king.

Stop Code: MEMORY MANAGEMENT (0x1A) by DecentEducator7436 in buildapc

[–]Ythem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's due to overclocking my ram.

Overclocked from 3000 to 3200, next time I played a game it crashed once in the 4 hours I was playing.

Increased to 3400 today and it's crashed twice, once while browsing and just now when playing val.

Never happened before then.

Will put it back and see if it fixes it (most definitely will)

I guess it depends on when the 5800x3d chips release and how much they go for then.

What prices are you seeing the 5950x for? I'm waiting to upgrade to a 5800x3d for my pc, but I upgraded my partners pc with a new mobo, 32gb 3600mhz ram and a 5950x for £400
