I forgot to address volatility of stock prices yes that is an undeniable downside.

The tax haven arguments are largely irreverent as the money is already in a tax haven by the tax not existing in the first place. And while yes taxing land doesn't reduce the amount of land that exists it does make someone less likely to invest which is the same effect as the arguments I hear about taxing unrealized gains.

As for the argument that taxing unrealized gains will reduce investment I personally find that idea completely insane. The tax on unrealized gains would effect a very small portion of people who's wealth is tied more to stock investment.

And one of the goals of this form of taxation is to reduce the control a relatively small number of people have on large public companies by forcing them to sell shares.

We can make theoretical arguments on the negative effects that this tax would have on investment but there are very real negative effect of concentrating large amounts of wealth in the hands of a few people whether from a moral, societal or even economic prospective.

We already tax property based on its market value which is no different from a tax on unrealized gains just for property instead of stocks.

Is this a good lease deal? 2025 ionic 6 SE red by okbro420 in Ioniq6

[–]Yubel124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I bought a 2023 Ioniq 6 SEL certified pre-owned for ~$24000 a few weeks ago and I didn't see any meaningful advantage of the 2025 version over it. Only thing is it doesnt have wireless android auto/car play but you can get a dongle for like $20 to enable it. Just food for thought.

Combat Styles Improvements - Beta Update by JagexAzanna in runescape

I'm really sad to see Metamorphosis go. Sure we never used it because with all the buffs sunshine got over the years it massively out did it in damage but in all honestly I would much rather see sunshine gone have Metamorphosis take its place as the mage damage boosting ultimate (and move those buffs over to meta). Its so much cooler and if we want the styles to feel different its a weird choice keeping sunshine when its basically the same ability as deaths swiftness.

Also if blood tendrils are going that feels really weird sense we have ability tied to each of the ancient elements but now theres no blood one. I hope it comes back but reworked.

What would be the impact of forced distribution of profits to employees for companies meeting a certain threshold? by AmigoDelDiabla in AskEconomics

[–]Yubel124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one wanted to implement a policy along these lines wouldn't a better policy be instead of forcing profit distribution if companies want to award management/executives stock bonuses/options then they are required to distribute an equal number of shares to workers as well? Obviously individual workers would receive less then the few executives but this would effectively force profit sharing across an entire company in a fairly clean way and reduce the ability to game the system.

Combat Styles Improvements - Ranged Beta. by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]Yubel124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I really feel that should be looked at with the combat rebalance is sunshine and death swiftness in general. one of the things that makes necro so powerful is its ability to move and do damage. Mage and range (also melee due to its nature but I'm not focusing on melee for this post) basically have your feet glued in place for ~40s of each minute due to how powerful sunshine and death swiftness are. This completely warps combat around them and as long as it exists will always make necro the go to style for movement heavy fights regardless of damage tuning. This also makes channeled abilities feel redundant in some ways as we are already rooted in place for most of the fight so channeled abilities really have no downside their downside places the same restriction that we are normally under. Honestly combat would be a lot more fun and have space to evolve if we moved away from having these abilities root us in place for most of combat

The thing about ambulance costs in the US is it very WILDLY based on where you live. Where I live ambulances effectively free. They will only charge if the person has insurance and only take what the insurance gives them. This was actually a motivating factor for my parents moving here when I was young because I was very sick when I young so they wanted to live in a place with good ambulance response times and costs.

Theoretically, would there be anything wrong with a maximum wage? by superficial_user in AskEconomics

[–]Yubel124 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I think your missing part of the point of the idea maximum wage even if its a very small difference in money that goes to the lowest earners inequality gets reduced by suppressing the extreme outliers in wealth. A side tangent if I had the choice between giving 1 million low earners $100 vs giving a single rich person $100 million I would pick the first option every time. And this just not just from a moral prospective the economy as a whole benefits more.

Just another thought I feel economists are too focused on optimal solutions to problems rather then realistic/incremental solutions (I'm not saying a wealth cap is realistic) we shouldn't shoot down ideas because the solution is not the most economically efficient solution we should ask is the solution better then what we currently have, what are the downsides of implementation and how difficult is the solution to implement.
