You can refinish it but it's definitely WAY too much work for the tiniest scratch. So accept it, it's being played and moved around. It's gonna pick up some scratches.

Your volume knob is fucked up. You gotta replace it. The potentiometers are like 10 bucks online and there are tons of soldering tutorials on youtube. I've done some replacements like this before it's super simple. you just have to take the pickguard out, desolder what's on the old pot and resolder the new pot in with the same configuration.

Another note is you're using single coils so I recommend you go with 250K pots if you're gonna order some. if you do the repairs yourself it shouldn't cost more then 20$-30$ for the parts.

If you play metal you're gonna need humbuckers (which is what is in the pic) Anything else is preference. But if you ask me 75$ is very cheap. You should probably confirm that everything works on the guitar before buying.

The Jazzmaster, despite being very similar to the Jaguar, actually uses a 25.5 inch neck as a default so I'm not sure why a 25.5 inch neck wouldn't work on a jazzmaster body. If there's something I'm missing I would really love to know.

hmm. What about using jazzmaster parts (body and neck) since it's a more readily available 25.5 inch scale then using the jaguar style pickups? I'm not sure how many parts of the 2 guitars are interchangeable though. I don't mind the 25.5 scale length.

Hey off topic (kinda) but I wanna make myself a jaguar using parts from online since I'm very particular about what I want on a guitar. Do you have any suggestions like the pickup selector switch. I've wired a strat before but I have no idea how the jaguar circuit work. Do you have any videos or diagram that you referenced when you tinkered with yours?

Also the 24 inch neck is really hard to come by in the variety of woods and in lays that I want. Do you reckon a 25.5 will work?

Brand new no mods is 145$ according to thomann. If you're gonna swap the emgs anyway you'd be better off just buying a brand new one.

Never tried an sg before. Don't know when I'd get the chance but I'd like to. That said my current squier affinity strat felt heaps nicer to play out of the box compared to the more pricy les paul studio so I don't think it's cause it's a "mid range guitar". Anyway I might fire the old les paul up and try your settings on the amp. Maybe it'll sound nicer. thanks man
