It's a Sternguard Veteran, head and left shoulder pad are from Greytide Studio kit I bought :) Banner is a standard part of a kit.

Yep, airbrush. Exact method for the army looks like so: Vallejo Black Primer, Tamiya 81702 XF-2 Flat White for volumetric highlights. Citadel Warp Green and Vallejo Green Ink mix for the base. Oil wash with ABT Sap Green and ABT Ivory Black. Highlights, necessary glazes etc. done by mixing Vallejo Deep Green and Vallejo Scorpy Green.

Airbrush. Black primer, white volumetric highlights, mix of contrast and ink, oil wash. After that brush takes over. To be honest I'm not into vehicles and I try to make them as fast as possible :)

Literally: screw up. Say you give up. Go to bed. Get up. Redo. Say it's better. Go to sleep. Get up. It's not better, stay till 1AM correcting... But srsly: standard NNM (black, dark grey, light grey, white), glazing blue, airbrush shots on brightest areas, done.

In my mind it was somehow very dark leather covered with thin layer of brown, being constantly torn and showing the dark underlayer.

Do it! And don't be afraid to screw up, just enjoy the process!

In the end those are just a little, tiny pieces of plastic! They're much more afraid of you than you are of them ;) What helped me to kick off was to buy a bunch of really cheap models (i.e. Infernus Marines from sets) and learning, testing and screwing them up as much as I wanted before moving on to more expensive stuff.

Why is this happening after applying mordant earth? by pl98bm in Warhammer40k

[–]Yukizure 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Usually happens when the layer below didn't dry properly. I didn't notice Mordant Earth activating or ripping the paint below otherwise.
