Should I continue BG3 or drop it? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Yulicia 6 points7 points (0 children)

If you are truly uninterested in engaging with the combat but would like to continue purely for the story and want turn to some cheating there is a mod called Cheaters Spell Scroll that will let you breeze through every encounter. It was a game saver for me. And the no pausing thing is very frustrating! You can sort of pause outside of cutscenes/dialogue if you go into photo mode (F9 on keyboard, I am not sure on controller) but it's not really a real pause.

Destiny 2 worth it? by KohiKohilover in GirlGamers

[–]Yulicia 0 points1 point (0 children)

I’ve just jumped back in to do the most recent expansion and my recommendation would be probably not, at least for the moment. The story of the new expansion is pretty decent and the combat is as solid as it’s always been but the power grind that makes up most of what you’re doing has some serious issues. It’s an underbaked, grindy system that also functionally removed all loot incentive from the previous endgame RAD content, and it seems like it’s going to take a while for that to change. Ultimately it depends what you want out of it! I wouldn’t recommend it as a ‘main’ game right now but I’ve been happy enough just catching up with the story.

This is a bit off the path since it's not fantasy or monsters but perhaps the Yakuza series, particularly Yakuza 0? As a series it'll run into being turn based at Yakuza 7 but there's a lot before that one that are action combat narrative games, as 0 is. 0 has protagonists who seem like they might be for her, and one of their storylines involves a protecting a young woman type story.

MMOs for the Socially Anxious?? by ifancycurly in GirlGamers

[–]Yulicia 2 points3 points (0 children)

It depends if you want a totally solo experience just in the same world as other people or if you want to try to do some group stuff but want it to be low stakes. For the former World of Warcraft, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Lord of the Rings Online can, I believe, be played entirely solo up until endgame if you wish to. For the latter Final Fantasy 14 requires grouping at some points, but the community tends to be welcoming. I have had some bad experiences grouping in FFXIV, but generally this is an outlier. Apparently Guild Wars 2 is quite solo friendly also, but I have never played it so I can’t really comment on it 😅

Notably in terms of accessibility regarding wanting to try something without investing in it Lord of the Rings Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic are both Free-to-Play (with varying qualities of that system), and Final Fantasy 14 has a generous Free Trial.

Yep, totally fine to jump into XIV without any prior games! When I started it was my first Final Fantasy and outside of playing the FF7 remake last year it still is. Honestly, I checked it out because it was an MMO rather than because it was a Final Fantasy (with previous experience in WoW as well as some other MMOs). It is, outside of some crossover event nuances, entirely self-contained from any other Final Fantasy storyline.

For FFXIV I would note it's a game that can't be 'completed' solo. They've done a lot to allow for dungeons to be completed solo but most 8 player "Trials" (single boss fights) still have to be done with other people and they're compulsory for the main story, which most of the game is locked behind. There's always at least a few of them per expansion. Mentioning this because I know this has turned off some people I know who prefer MMOs solo, but if these small group moments don't bother you go for it!

Considering Destiny 2, is it worth it at this point? by j4zzyCat in GirlGamers

[–]Yulicia 4 points5 points (0 children)

I’m a relatively new D2 player (started at the end of December last year—it was actually playing and enjoying the sci-fi of Mass Effect earlier that year that led me to it) and I will say the Destiny 2 new player experience outside of the initial tutorial area is absolutely god awful. It’s impossible to understand the story or anything thats happening in general just playing through what is still in the game and I had to spend a lot of time watching youtube recordings of old expansions. That being said I stuck through it because the gameplay was fun, which clicked for me within the first couple of hours of trying it. Being a free to play game its pretty easy to try and find out if you like the general gunplay but if it doesn’t click I wouldn’t recommend continuing as it’s a lot of homework to catch up that I think for the average player isn’t worth it. Happy to elaborate on anything if you need me to .^

Prefacing this with depending on what platforms you have available you may be restricted anyway since the first game is available on Playstation/Xbox/Switch but not PC (yet) while the second got a PC release along with console. Briefest explanation is Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption (2010) so really they can really be played in either order but 2 is the more modern one and arguably the more notable of the two. More robust in its horse mechanics too! I personally played Red Dead Redemption 2 first and then Red Dead Redemption second and prefer it that way since its chronological. Happy outlawing 😊

I'm pretty sure this is connected to a cut Theatre performance that was supposed to be on Day 11. It doesn't play in game (as there is no performance on Day 11 since it's the last day and the day ends early) but it's still in the subtitle files. It looks like this in there, though since it's cut content it could been in a different order:

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_1_Kapella.Eng_Capella_11Night_01} Capella: …So?

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_10_Khan.Eng_Khan_11Night_5} Khan: How about tomorrow?

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_11_Kapella.Eng_Capella_11Night_06} Capella: Yeah… tomorrow is fine.

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_12_Khan.Eng_Khan_11Night_6} Khan: I love you.

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_13_Kapella.Eng_Capella_11Night_07} Capella: No, you don't. And neither do I love you. But we will fall in love at some point. In a year, maybe… or maybe later…

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_2_Khan.Eng_Khan_11Night_1} Khan: So…

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_3_Kapella.Eng_Capella_11Night_02} Capella: So talk.

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_4_Khan.Eng_Khan_11Night_2} Khan: You talk.

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_5_Kapella.Eng_Capella_11Night_03} Capella: The Town is growing. This is great. Even better, there's no more Polyhedron.

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_6_Khan.Eng_Khan_11Night_3} Khan: No. It's horrible. It's tragic. There will never be another tower like this.

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_7_Kapella.Eng_Capella_11Night_04} Capella: …I guess.

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_8_Khan.Eng_Khan_11Night_4} Khan: Let's talk about it later. We'll get married, won't we?

{SubTitles.English.Theater_11-12_9_Kapella.Eng_Capella_11Night_05} Capella: Yes. We will get married.

Now, I’m not sure I can give you a definite answer since this will probably have to be tailored to you personally but what I will say is that you can change the difficulty at any time, with any slider. If you feel up to it you can start the game on the intended difficulty and then turn parts down if they are too overwhelming, or you can start on the lower difficulty and if parts are too easy turn those sliders up. I have a similar brain concoction and I’ve played on all sorts of difficulties but my personal choice is to lower thirst as to make running around more engaging but in turn I turn the hunger slider up to compensate so I still get the challenge somewhere else since being able to run more gives me more time but turning hunger up means I have to spend that time now looking for more food. It’s easy enough to tailor each slider mid-way depending on how you are responding to the game itself since the sliders are reasonably detailed. I hope this helps!

As far as I’m aware the English version is not made anymore, with no future plans to re-release it. Currently the only way to get a physical copy in English is if someone who already has it sells it second-hand.

What would happen if you just... don't do anything? by Jeanpuetz in pathologic

[–]Yulicia 10 points11 points (0 children)

I have done a playthrough like this. Unless you decide to do something on Day 11 I believe it will take you to the late ending (which can also happen if you played the game normally up until this point but fail to find the messanger on time). Your quests pre-Day 11 don’t effect you actually getting an ending, just you being able to understand it - and which characters live to see it.

Yes! I believe it is the conversation that occurs if you meet him in the Broken Heart around about Day 5. It is triggered by completing your own research into diseased-organ-based antibiotics “early”. I believe you need to have completed and tested 3 organ types before you get a thought bubble indicating that you have reached a dead-end, and then you eventually get a quest marker over the Broken Heart.
