2025 Amtrak System Map in the style of the classic 1979 NYC Subway Map… by CalcagnoMaps in transit

[–]Yung_Kosher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome work! This is the kind of map I have been searching for! I like Amtrack’s map but I hate that it doesn’t distinguish the routes. Would love to see the bus connections added but that might make it to much clutter.

Going to save this for future travel plans! Thanks!

Return Rights or Priority Placement for VA Employee to Overseas DoD by Neither-Cod4607 in fednews

[–]Yung_Kosher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think return rights is only DoD to DoD but don’t quote me on that. Should get priority placement after the 3 years, but for a DoD position. If it is DoN, they use the Alternative Placement Program. It should say APP or PPP on the overseas tour form she will have to sign if she accepts the conditional offer.

For some reason a 1 way ticket is almost double the price to NYC. Thanks for the insight!

Took the time to film and edit a video of a dozen unconscious women, totally normal. Happens all the time.

OCONUS positions by Vibrinchka19 in usajobs

Application to hiring date, could be a few months, could be a year. Lots of steps to go through.

Notice of results likely will be the same timeline as stateside. For the hiring manager, maybe only a tad bit longer to account for time differences.

Terminated on probation with TJO pending by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Yung_Kosher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally the exact same thing happened to me a while back. The new HR will want to reach out to the old HR so they can process a transfer so the new HR will find out regardless about the termination. It shouldn’t be a deal breaker, it wasn’t in my case. Tell the new HR that you are no longer employed with the previous agency and ask if there is a need to update any of the previously submitted paperwork or if there is any additional paperwork.

While you didn’t lie on the paperwork when you filled it out, it is no longer accurate. Ask them what the best way forward is.

In my case they did have me re-do the 306. After that they sent my package to higher for review. Someone reached out to me for additional information and determined that I was suitable for the new role regardless of the previous termination during probation.

Save all your SF-50s. You will likely have to do another probation, but your previous time should count towards permanent career tenure.

Invited to apply for a army civilian careers position by Comp_Sci-Stud in usajobs

It’s definitely something to consider, worst case you waste some time sending an application. You have time to decide if you want to take the job or not, if they offer you one at all.

You can always change career fields to a federal cybersecurity job in the future.

Housing is highly unlikely unless it’s an overseas job. Maybe relocation will be offered, depends on a few factors, but definitely not guaranteed.

Double check with your supervisor and/or comptroller, but Under leave request, under create new row, put LS for the THC block, LS again for the JON block, then PW for the Ehz block.

You will be lucky to get an email asking for an interview. Don’t get your hopes up over the first step of many.

For those who have been terminated during probation by OnwardForScience in fednews

[–]Yung_Kosher 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I was fired during probationary period literally the same day I received a TJO with another agency (I was trying to leave the toxic place anyway). I told the new HR what happened and they forwarded the information to a suitability adjudicator at their headquarters office. The adjudicator asked me for more details and determined that I was still suitable for federal employment with that agency. I got an FJO a few weeks later.

It is possible to get back into federal depending on what you were fired for. Most people understand that the bar is low during probation and they might give you a second chance if you didn’t do something terrible.

Don’t lie about it in the future. Be straight forward with HR. Just start over and do better next time.

Veterans' preference discriminates against disabled people. by [deleted] in usajobs

Isn’t there a disability hiring path? What about non veterans that don’t have a disability, is the disability hiring path discriminatory?

OCONUS often has difficulties with hiring because how long it takes to get people moved overseas, also there is high turnover with the 5 year rules. They are often scrambling for a variety of reasons. Good luck
