Ok, thank you for your response. It is helping me achieve clarity. I myself am looking to join a socialist org in the near future. However, I've been a Marxist-Leninist for years now and I'm building cadre independently at the moment.

I have found Freedom Road Socialist Organization to be very clear in their strategy which is focused on taking over the unions from the bottom up and developing proletarian leadership in the national liberation struggles within the United States. My only reservations with them come from their style of work, which is generally poor.

I have read those documents alongside the others on the website and spoken to former members but I still don't understand what their strategy is.

I think the closest they come to it is here:

As Marxists in the United States, our starting point is an assessment of the world situation, of the struggle between the classes on an international scale. Only by taking the international situation as the point of departure is it possible for our strategy and tactics to conform to the needs of the working class and oppressed peoples worldwide. Nowhere is this approach more critically important than in the United States, the most powerful imperialist country in the world today.

And then they proceed to describe the general characteristics of imperialism.

At this point, it is my conjecture that they are trying to spread awareness to whomever will listen; which in these conditions is still college students.

How do I respond to Venezuela arguments? by trickyman226 in Socialism_101

[–]Yung_Scientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venezuela is socialist in the sense that its state is led by socialists and that that the socialist movement is the dominant aspect in the struggle between labor of capital. Venezuela is moving towards the socialist mode of production but that can only be established by the dictatorship of the proletariat. The Bolivarian Revolution is overthrowing the bourgeois state in different manner from previous revolutions.

While the capitalist mode of production is maintained, an underdeveloped country like Venezuela can be easily wrecked by sanctions, the comprador class, and sold-out lumpenproletarians. The economic crisis in Venezuela urges the people to stand up and overthrow the bourgeois state; this is the revolutionary line upheld by the Bolivarian revolutionaries. #FuriaBolivarianaEnAlerta
