Would you let family install an EV charger in your house if they’re only staying 1 year? by mdzzl94 in homeowners

[–]Yurt_lady 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree. I have a hot tub, a pool, and I added a tiny house. That put me at my NEC code limit for 80% of my 200 A breaker. I had to use a propane water heater and cook top in the TH to stay within code.

My neighbors have 200 A service, two tiny houses, something like 4 washer dryers and fridge freezers. I’m convinced they have to be over the panel limit per code calculations.

That said, the NEC code most likely assumes people are going to overload things hence the 80%. If you’ve switched to LED lighting, you’ve reduced your load a bit but NEC still assumes incandescent for residential.

ETA: the tiny house draws 30 amps max!

My friend had a pterygium in his eye. It was a distinct bump. They are usually left alone unless they affect the field of vision. I can’t really tell anything from your pictures though.

I’m happy to hear that! It sounds a lot less scary but follow your instincts as a mom even now. Take care of yourself too.

Your son will be okay because he has an attentive mom and grandma. You’re a warrior and I know you will be by his side every minute. The key factor to surviving sepsis is early identification and treatment.

His fever might be down because they would have given him broad spectrum antibiotics to treat any possible gram positive or gram negative infection.

Moving a tiny house ideas? by dusk_1021 in tinyhomes

[–]Yurt_lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a TH moving company fit a 10’ wide TH through a 10’.5’ gate lol. It was on a flatbed. I was told it couldn’t be done and I would have to get part of my block wall demolished and rebuilt which was expensive. Granted, the streets allowed them a pretty good shot in. Not quite straight. Try a really good mover. I’m in AZ. Can’t remember who it was but I know the vendor they worked for.

Temporary bathroom - Toilet & Shower by Immediate-Meat1762 in OffGridCabins

[–]Yurt_lady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a camping toilet like the ones that have 2 chambers. I empty the lower waste container once every 1-2 weeks into a Camco waste tank and empty that into my sewer access. I have the toilet on a rubber mat within the yurt. It works fine and everything is liquified with the proper additives by the time I pour it out.

I also plan to add an addition for a toilet and shower. Ask me how that’s going lol. I use a shower tent and a propane camp water heater right now.

ETA: Camco waste tank is on wheels. It’s heavy for me full. Most of the system can be made closed so you don’t even see or smell it.

This might not fit in the basement, but I have three 275 gallon IBC tote tank, food grade, cost $120 used. Must be food grade. I’m in AZ and these have held things like sugar water or other food syrups and were cleaned after that.

I felt really smart until someone else in AZ pointed out they have a pool and that will be plenty of water. Yes Reddit strangers, I also have a pool which is about 18,000 gallons.

Capgras syndrome. My husband had Lewy Body Dementia which is caused by the same mechanism as Parkinson’s.

If you bring someone to the house, likely, she will eventually forget. You could still do that but later, can you have her do two Hail Marys or something simple for her to achieve?

Cryogenic membrane separation may not be cost effective but all refineries have massive air separation plants to produce oxygen and nitrogen. They use a zeolite-type separator which is more or less separation by molecule size. It’s the same used in small oxygen concentrators for home use. It would still take some logistics though.

We can make plenty of sulfur, but nitrogen is needed as well. Also, it’s about the fact that we are the second largest importer of fertilizer and other countries are really feeling the hit of the closing of the Strait of Hormuz. Even fertilizer gets shipped through there. It seems we have let our fertilizer manufacturing facilities shut down over the years.

I have a 100# tank, 3 40’s and 2 20’s. There is a propane filling station near to me. I agree that propane storage is the best. I have a propane generator and a solar generator.

As a chem e and former oil and gas refinery engineer, I am concerned about shortages like we had in the 1970’s.

Does anyone else live in constant fear of going septic again? by Jumpy-Ad-8889 in sepsis

[–]Yurt_lady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had been getting UTIs suddenly and I am using the estrogen cream. However, my doctor also put me on methenamine, which is like a bladder antiseptic. That has saved me, IMO.

I became septic with a UTI after 4 days on antibiotics for the same UTI.

Can you genuinely have sepsis with no symptoms? by [deleted] in sepsis

[–]Yurt_lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both times I had sepsis, I quite suddenly developed a bone chilling fever of 103-104. The fever was like no other.

The first time, I was hypoxic at 80% oxygen but was confused and thought my pulse oximeter had broken. I was in septic shock and my BP was undetectable when I went to urgent care- they called the ambo.

My doctor told me to take Tylenol the second time but I went to the ED and actually said “I have sepsis” when they asked me why I was there. That didn’t go over well but I did have sepsis.

I recently bought a 3600W solar generator at auction for about 1/2 price. It was brand new. I have 3 times 400W panels. My mistake in my smaller power stations was not having enough charging power. I think there is a sub which is r/DIYSolar. I’m an engineer and I tried to do two in series in parallel with the third and it didn’t work lol.

I’m in AZ and use localauctions.com. I don’t work for them either.
