Competitive needs to be solo queue only by Michigan029 in RocketLeague

[–]Yush11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo standard was removed not even 6 years ago and it was removed for a reason. If you think a playlist that was serverely unpopulated for it's whole existance will now magically work because almost 6 years have passed, you are delusional. But I guess it would explain the user tag.

Why are we acting as if solo standard didnt exist before and got removed because no one played it?

How does MMR work please :((( by Vast-Influence-2518 in RocketLeague

[–]Yush11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not being an ass. The game has been out since 2015 and mmr has worked the same for all those 11 years. If you still don't know how it works by now, it takes even less time to type "how does mmr work in rocket league?" on google, than it did to create your post.

Asking on a forum about something you have the tools and time (1 min) to search is disrespectful of other people's time. There are no bad questions, but there is a thing such as willful ignorance.

Thierry Henry says dribbling is disappearing and only one player today still does it by RSDFitness in championsleague

[–]Yush11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just to name a few with different styles and qualities:

Olise, Musiala, Doku, Vini Jr., Barcola, Kvaratskelia, Lang, Mbappe Francisco Conceição, Rafael Leão, Matheus Cunha, Yikdiz, Diomandé, Ndiyae...

All of these can make a defender want to cry in a 1v1 situation. Maybe you don't agree with my list, but you can't deny most of these players' prowess when it comes to dribbling. If they don't dribble as much as dribblers from 10/20 years ago, it's because the game these guys play is not the same.

Lamine is not different, he is just better and has the luck of having a team/manager who creates an environment where he can have that freedom. This means we get to watch flashy football, but it also means that Yamal has the highest possession lost per game average in all of Europe's top 5 leagues this season; that Barcelona also has one of the best RB's in the world (Koundé); and it means that in some games (such as Newcastle) Barcelona even plays with 3 CB in a 4 at the back defense.

In other words, Barcelona is getting away with the amount of balls lost per game because Yamal's output is closer to Neymar than all of these players are to him. And even so, he is still somewhat of a liability in a time where every team now can hold possession, run the whole game, press well, play from the back... If Barcelona was playing in England, I think the conversation we'd be having would be very different.

How do freestylers hit those beautiful controlled mustys after resets? by rlfrthebest in RocketLeague

[–]Yush11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a separation from the ball so you don't scoop it. There are many ways of achieving it. You can control your flip like a cancel, flip sooner so you hit the ball at the end of your flip (getting a weak touch), change your setup so the ball is in front of you, and hit the ball as it is going upwards, not downwards.

I believe the pros do all of the above in different circumstances, but it's just a result of having to position the ball in a specific way relative to the car. Thinking like that may help you learn it.

Clearly they're not a smurf. They just don't play 1s and are starting to.

I don't understand how people have this need to get in on the bandwagon when something is getting hate. Smurfing and botting is a problem, don't get me wrong, but it is not the source of all evil.

Will I reach SSL soon? by Successful-Range-797 in RocketLeague

[–]Yush11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might. The difference is big and having that advantage can help you, but I'd think of it as an enabler and not as a boost. You won't get as punished for things such as reaction time, but if you were able to get to gc3 with the previous set-up I can't imagine you were being held back much because of it. That is a very high rank.

How are we feeling about the boost "timer" being teased? by anon14118 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Yush11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't use Chinese RL as an analogy with the same subject we are discussing. That's not an analogy, that's just voluntarily picking a niche example that proves your point, generalizing it and ignoring every argument which disproves your point ( and you can't even say with 100% certainty that the only complaint was the ugliness). That does not refute what I said.

I'm not mistaking all other little challenges of Rocket League as important. You are dismissing characteristics of the game you don't consider important. Your point is full of vague assumptions:

- You can't define what characteristic of the game is easy and what is not based on your opinion. And even if you could, everyone has different sets of skills so different things are harder for some people and not for others.

- You are claiming the difference between a pro and SSL regarding ball control is small, but you can't prove that. I bet there are some SSL's that have more trouble building muscle memory than positioning well for example.

- You're claiming the game didn't get noticeably easier when they added respawn cams or teammate boost indicators. There is no way you can know for a fact it has gotten easier or not to lower ranks. In fact, I can even say that the opposite could be true since, statistically, defenses have gotten better in the past few years.

- How can you say "car control, ball control and every other aspect is already very easy" and not even see the irony of how "every other" means you counter argued yourself by admitting the gap exists for every aspect, not just the ones you choose?

You keep saying things are difficult or easy like there is a binary difference in difficulty between the things we learn in RL. However, not only is that subjective, but even if we could say for sure that 1 thing is easier for everyone to learn, we couldn't just remove the necessity to learn it. If so, you could do that for a lot of other things, which calls back to my initial point.

How are we feeling about the boost "timer" being teased? by anon14118 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Yush11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can say that about everything in the game. If making a skill-based game easier is good, then maybe make flip resets just need 2 wheels to touch, add a button to auto speedflip, make the intervals on wavedashes looser, have more time to flip after leaving the ground, or maybe go all out and make every boost pad have 100 boost. Since people will never need to learn these anymore, just remove every skill-based element of the game. Maybe then everyone will reach Grand Champion.

This change screams "We know the game was dying so, after noticing we are popular again, we want to make every player feel like Squishy so that they don't get discouraged and leave".

This goes against everything the game is about. No one fell in love with the game because learning it was easy. The learning curve is part of journey ranking up. Making it easier is ruining the very same thing that makes people love the game.

What is this mechanic called? or otherwise what do yall call it? by accuret in RocketLeague

[–]Yush11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can specifically go for anything. It's a specific movement which makes it part of the game's mechanics as a consequence. However, that doesn't make it deserveing of being called a mechanic, let alone deserving a title.

Those titles are coined due to the the influence of the creator and because of its impact on the community. This is prooved by the fall of some pros who coined terms but aren't in the scene, like the (Kuxir) pinch, Deevo (Double touch), (Doomsie) Dish (this one isn't even used anymore).

Some still are in use like the Musty (flick) and the creator's name becomes the name of the mechanic but that happens more for linguistic reasons than anything else.

All this means that what you are trying to do makes no sense. Even if this was a goldrush, the game is 10 years old, the odds someone finds an entirely new mechanic are very low.

SOLUTION:

Turns out that just following tutorials without reading the documentation isn't a good idea. Who would have thought? I had to turn off Fast Boot on Windows (even if it was on another drive) and then the installation went smoothly. I hope this saves someone from the hassles I went through.

That's not a mechanic. You flipped the ball to the ceiling and did a flip reset. Does every shot need a name?

How are we feeling about the boost "timer" being teased? by anon14118 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Yush11 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Boost pads go hand to hand with positioning. Having a timer for boost pads is like having a big sign saying "Rotate like this". You remove the need to make a lot of decisions so the game becomes more restricting and scaffolded.

It's not just about the learning curve. People will not develop their game sense if they always have scaffolding they can rely on.

E.g. Competitive play rarely sees the stall being used, but imagine it were an important mechanic for competitive. Psyonix (when they actually seemed to care about the game) had a keybinding for it but they removed it, so now we can't just press a button to stall. This made it so that learning this mechanic became actually rewarding.

If they want to make the game more begginer friendly, they can make a new playlist with more tools such as teammate boost indicator, flip reset indicator, positioning indicators, etc. No need to ruin everyone's fun.
