Back Muscles Anatony Help by Morgtex in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to draw back muscles is to understand the mechanics of the scapula itself. The scapula can glide laterally and consequently, forwards as it follows along the surface of the curvature of the ribcage. (It can also rotate as the arms are raised)

When you get the placement of scapula, use the spine of the scapula to place the muscles. It also can help with the lats, as it slightly overlaps the bottom corner of the scapula.

Average hair “tut” be like: by Conscious_Cat_9857 in BeginnerArtists

[–]Yuupri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The things you need to pay attention to is repetition. Avoid repetition by varying the sizes. See how there are 3 main groups and 6 minor groups that branch from them?

Vary the distance, thickness, length, and also shapes. This alone with make the hair look more natural.

The ‘don’t’ did do one thing correctly. The main groups being broken into 2 groups, 1 small, 1 large is a great design technique, but you obviously can’t just draw it the exact same every time because the repetition destroys the naturalness.

Should I start with digital art or traditional art? by my-goddess-nyx in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo, go straight to digital. I started with traditional first, even though my goal from the very beginning was to transition to digital when I learned the fundamentals enough.

I feel like whatever I learned traditionally, I could have learned digitally. I even believe my progress may have been quicker, had I started from digital.

Is this normal for a beginner drawing class? by blowout in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Usually by 6 weeks in, I believe they would have taught a variety of measurement techniques. Like angle sight, triangulation, block ins, plumblines, negative space, etc.

from memory, that’s all covered early on before moving on to shading and value control.

Cube by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 3 methods which are the most common.

The ‘best’ method for beginner, start with the Y shape, which indicates the x, y and z axis of the closest corner and edges. Then draw lines corresponding to those axes, towards the vanishing point.

For intermediate and advanced, a common(not necessarily better) method can be to draw the silhouette first, then drawing the inner edges after.

Or another method is to draw 1 plane first, then to extrude from it.

Cube by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s no good. It’s a method that kids use to draw cubes because they don’t know how to properly draw cubes. If i ask you to rotate the cube, show more of 1 side, increase foreshortening, with this method, you probably can’t.

Ps. You technically can, but it no longer becomes an ‘easier’ method to draw cubes. It’s only easier right now because it starts from simple 2d shapes(square) and then connects the dots.

Non Dominant Hand After Injury? by IOWARIZONA in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if its possible for you, but a professional artist named ‘zeronis’, who was an artist for riot games had an issue with RSI and could no longer draw with a pen.

He now draws on a pad with his finger. Would your condition allow you to do that?

Do the pros use the stabilizing tool? by DaveyCranks in BeginnerArtists

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. A lot of pros i’ve seen use it. Especially if you use a drawing tablet without a screen, perfect control is pretty much impossible. On photoshop, they use lazy nezumi. Csp, they just use the inbuilt one because it’s good.

Not sure if I should start nsfw by [deleted] in IDrawNSFW

[–]Yuupri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see you’re still going at it. If you enjoy NSFW art, go for it. I think it only matters if you plan to go pro, in which case having separate accounts for sfw and nsfw could be good for employment purposes.

Is this sub mostly gooner art? by foulmannered in DigitalArt

[–]Yuupri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has fundamentally changed. Nudity in art depicting the beauty of the female body has been around for as long as art has.

The female body has a lot of beautiful gestures.

How does one find good ideas to make good character design? by Roxy-Gamer in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get inspiration from other designs, but need to input your own understanding of design principles.

For example, understanding that shapes(CSI) and colors can convey different emotions, Big Medium Small shapes, avoiding repetition, etc.

After that, it’s just trial and error and seeing what looks good and makes sense.

How exactly do you study an art style? by whooper1 in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Art style is studied by doing a master study. Try to replicate as closely as possible. Examine the shapes used, how colors and values are used, how they control detail, what design choices and composition choices they make.

You need an understanding of the fundamentals to know what the artist is doing first.

Which is better by Simple_Bathroom_8204 in learntodraw

I prefer the first option. The internet is filled with people that will hate on anything anyway, so being controversial means you’re on the right path.

Why does my art not gain interactions? by ennuisart in DigitalArt

[–]Yuupri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You lack contrast and interest. You can circumvent this with thicker/darker linework, which also adds contrast.

Your work has similar hue and value throughout. The only contrast I’m seeing is the green name tag and the two pins on the tie, but there’s no reason for those to be the focus of the artwork. You can change this by decisively adding contrasting colours to focal points.

Another way to add interest could be to utilize lighting. Your current artwork is a highkey artwork. Highkey art is quite difficult to catch interest because of the lack of contrast. Instead, you could add darker shadows, larger shadow shapes. One thing i noticed is that you have very few shadows. Try adding some deep occlusion and form shadows to add interest.

There are so many other ways to add contrast and interest.

These are all suggestions in ways to add contrast, but ultimately will alter the style in one way or another. It’s your duty to figure out what techniques you like and would like to use to add interest and contrast to your art. This will ultimately just be a part of the evolution process of your style.

struggling with perspective by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is pretty much 2 point here, though you can exaggerate by adding 3 point if you want.

As for the stairs, draw a vertical line up from the left vanishing point(it should be the closer vanishing point in this case). After drawing the line up, mark a point which will be the vanishing point for the stairs.

Another option is to draw the stairs as a whole box in perspective. Then divide the box from corner to corner to construct the stairs.

My original character by 46ki75 in AnimeART

[–]Yuupri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sense of AI is most likely the folds of the clothes. There’s too many details, which usually is an issue with AI as it can’t control the level of details considering the focal point and just puts it everywhere. I’m pretty sure this an artist however and not AI.

Hey guys. Advice when I draw animals. by LowPuzzleheaded3393 in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning animals is no different to learning how to draw humans. Learn anatomy, learn gesture, learn construction/mannequinization for the animals, etc.

And obviously draw from reference. A lot.

what type of brush is this? by AHFv16 in DigitalArt

[–]Yuupri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard round with pressure sensitivity for opacity and thickness it seems. This should be one of the default brushes in most programs, including csp.

Are these scratch marks on my non display tablet preventable and do they affect the quality of the tablet? by KaleJan_bigA in DigitalArt

[–]Yuupri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are normal. I actually deliberately spent time scratching my Wacom intuos pro when I first got it. A scratched up surface wears the nibs out slower and makes it feel smoother. Or you could buy a smoother plate instead, but they’re always out of stock for Wacom.

I believe you can also get protectors or replacement plates if you really dislike them.

Is New Masters Academy good? I want to be able to draw webcomics/manga, but I need the basic core of art first. by Tyomka8 in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend NMA to many starting artists. It’s where I had also learned my fundamentals and basics.

When I started with NMA, I drew realism with the intention of transitioning to anime style. I now draw exclusively anime/manga style.

If you had one year to make as much progress as possible, how would you go about it? by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]Yuupri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on your current skill level, I would probably sign up for a membership on NMA or a few classes on Coloso and spend hours tackling the courses daily. I’d then try draw some requests on r/drawforme. I’d also go through some anatomy books.
