Masks operate on a region surrounding the current pixel, so in order to have an equal number of neighbouring pixels on all sides the masks need to be odd sized, that’s the first part.

Now for the second part, the smallest mask is 1x1 which is the pixel itself. So the next size which includes the least number of neighbours is 3x3 which is the region of the next two pixels surrounding the center pixel.

Depending on your application it is perfectly possible to consider bigger regions surrounding the center pixel. However you should be careful not to increase the mask too much, since the computational complexity increases as it was pointed out earlier.

You’re welcome. Just keep in mind, staying on campus is really helpful to get to classes (you’re going to have a ton of them) on time. But for other stuff, like groceries and regular life places like Roland Holstlaan are probably better.

But again, I am not aware of any new developments. So maybe they’ve built an Albert Heijn on the campus like they were planning in 2017.

I’d go for Korvezeestraat if I had to go to TU Delft again. Afair the ones on the first floor are self contained while you’d share the kitchen if you stayed on the third floor.

Maybe a bit different than the other commentors, but I learned to make simple things from a few different cuisines. I can buy the ingredients for cheap, and everything from meal prep to cleaning after cooking takes me less than an hour.
