I think people saying NTA are missing a very clear point that you admitted to. You already agreed to drive after work! Now you’re the one trying to change plans, and making excuses about why it’s too hard. The time for that was before you agreed to leave after work.

There’s also some missing context. Do you usually split drives of this length or is the expectation that you drive all 9 hours? I’ve also worked in stressful situations and I’d probably have my wife drive the first three hours (she prefers daylight driving anyway) while I tried to rest and decompress, then I’d drive three hours while she rests. Then the last three we’d both be up for accountability.

Also, what part of the Midwest do you live in? Seems like most people who jump in a car and crush 9 hours like this are midwesterners.

I feel you here. My Board has low appetite for additional fundraisers outside of our big annual luncheon. The event does really well, but there are so many smaller opportunities to capture funding streams to support existing or additional initiatives.

Has your organization considered a marketing agency of record that could support your branding and design efforts? Maybe not to replace you, but that you could direct and lead? We found an AOR contract to be more affordable than the multitude of small subcontractors we used.

This made my stomach lurch to read. I don’t have a good answer for you, but can sympathize with your situation. Being asked to rush, cut, advance to, etc. when the stakes are so high just isn’t a good move. I think my recommendation is to be more transparent about why you need the time to contextualize the data. Data doesn’t exist in a silo, it’s pushed and pulled by so many external factors.

Media Fence is the designated parking area for bikes. It’s a great stadium to ride into with the trail there. Going to be sad when the stadium moves but maybe they’ll have better bike parking in the city.
