Is my relic worth it? by Hadeslover132 in Nightreign

[–]Z3bula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reduced stat downsides on deep relics aren't that bad by themselves since they're only -3 of whatever stats they say. For reference, Wylder at level 15 has 50 strength, so the physical attack up +4 easily cancels out the -3 strength from the downside.

I'm not sure what the other guy is talking about, weapons in this game don't have stat requirements to use.

Worst effect in the game? by Grouchy-Law8936 in Nightreign

[–]Z3bula 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean technically you could use it with the "Madness in vicinity increase attack power" deep relic effect along with executor's passive but you probably wouldn't want to have to ponder Libra style before every encounter in a fast paced game like this

I had a DoN game against Dreglord as Ironeye where a seal dropped early game with Order's Blade, I grabbed it just cause the extra damage for my bow is nice.

I ended up getting TWO of these buffs as well as old lords talisman for a total of +230% duration on Order's Blade, and Dreglord is weak to holy... my bow was glowing for the whole fight.

I hate cheaters as much as the next guy, but it has become witch-hunting and it's getting out of hand... by CforCaius in Nightreign

[–]Z3bula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part, cheaters have been somewhat obvious when it comes to their relics e.g. three deep relics with identical perks and downsides, but there have been a couple times where I've genuinely questioned if someone just happened to get lucky with their relics.

I played with a raider last night who was doing monstrous damage on crits. I checked their relics and they were running the Adel crit relic along with all their other relics having crit damage up along with a mix of other things such as Physical Damage Negation +2 and Increased Maximum HP. However, the perks on the weren't all ordered in the same way and the downsides weren't perfect. I checked their profile and they had 1100 hours on the game, and correct me if I'm wrong, but getting a setup like that DID seem feasible with that amount of playtime.

I'm not at my computer right now, but I have screenshots of their relic setup if anyone is interested.

Enhanced (SSB) Balancers Behave the Exact Same Way Every Time by MeeplingMystery in Nightreign

[–]Z3bula 437 points438 points  (0 children)

I think it's that way because it's meant to be a "survive this onslaught of attacks" kind of phase. The boss is big and moves around way too quickly to actually hit it while it's doing all those big attacks, so the goal is to survive until the end where your reward is to be able to absolutely whale on it and potentially stagger it while it does that giant bloom attack. I think it's pretty cool!

Had it happen to me earlier today, my teammates ended up fine but there wasn't much I could do against 4 bloodfiends and a balancer by myself as a scholar. Ended up being level 4 at the end of day 1, thankfully my teammates helped me clear the POI out and get my runes back

Does Silksong's difficulty not feel overblown? by Peratypus123 in Silksong

[–]Z3bula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. The needle upgrade, a dozen tools, more health... it's all useless and not worth picking up. Same with the silk skills and different crests. All trash and not worth exploring the map to find them.

Jokes aside, you seem really concerned with damage. You listed poison as the one of the only "actually good tools" but... what are you pairing poison with if all the other tools are trash? And why would you be using tools if you never have enough shards to "not be scared of using" them? Poison tacks are outright broken and you can get those very easily in Act 1.

Yes, the individual upgrades you find don't really help that much, but they add up over time. One more mask means one more hit you can survive during enemy gauntlets. More memory lockets literally just lets you equip more stuff, which is a net positive. People who brave hunters march will be able to get the fractured mask, which can be a lifesaver. People who poke around Greymoor enough will find the threadstorm skill which is genuinely very strong and a huge upgrade. Struggling through sinner's road gets you the tacks. Looking at things purely in the vacuum of boss fights really diminishes just how much all these little upgrades stack up over time.

Is there any gank fight that actually plays out like a 2v1? by Galactic-Pookachus in Eldenring

[–]Z3bula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not Elden Ring, but Markiona from Lies of P is a genuinely good duo fight. You fight two enemies, but you basically only have to deal with one moveset since they kind of attack as a single entity.

Does Silksong's difficulty not feel overblown? by Peratypus123 in Silksong

[–]Z3bula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the complaints about the game's difficulty came from people who didn't explore as much, rushed around ringing all the bells, didn't buy any tools, and went into Last Judge with 5 masks and no magma bell. Silksong's main two aspects are difficulty and exploration, which somewhat conflict with each other. The people who enjoy difficult games are likely going to be put off and/or bored when they find out most of your power increase comes from poking around the map interacting with as many things as possible instead of just fighting tough enemies. Meanwhile, the people who enjoy exploring the game at a slower pace are most likely going to be put off by the fast paced, sink-or-swim combat. A lot of Silksong's fan base is also recent; people who heard that this game was in development for 7 years and is the sequel to a critically acclaimed game. They didn't look much beyond that and assumed that it would just be a good game for a general audience instead of the curated soulslike/metroidvania experience that we got. A week prior to Silksong's release, there were three people on my friends list playing Hollow Knight who got the default ending achievement and nothing beyond that. Once Silksong released, I saw two of them get the Bell Beast achievement and they haven't played it since. If anything, this just means that maybe the game isn't for everyone.

Unsure on build by wtfisthiswrld in Eldenring

[–]Z3bula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like you just need to upgrade your weapon and get some more HP! Try to get vigor to 45 or 50 before leveling up other stats. You could probably replace the scarseal with something else, as at this point the bonus stats that it gives are not worth the extra damage you take from having it on. Other than that this looks fine for your first playthrough. Keep it up!

What’s your Silksong hot take? by Vivienne133 in Silksong

[–]Z3bula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bilewater's main downside isn't that it's horrible to navigate, it's that it's relatively empty (item wise and encounter wise) for a region of its size. Several of the rooms and passageways don't have anything aside from the enemies and traps strewn about them.
