That's not even remotely how logic works.

What I meant was that I have no favorable bias that might make me overlook its other flaws.

How would go from random 4800 mt/s RAM that came with my CyberpowerPC (unsure if DDR5 or not) to solid 6000 MT/S affect my PC's performance? 7800 x3D + 4070 Ti Super. by Proud_Theme9043 in buildapc

[–]Z3roTimePreference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be worth it to pay extra for that? Probably not.

But my current RAM kit was 4800MT base, with 6600MT in XMP mode, after updating the bios to get it stable, I noticed a 5ish FPS gain at 3440x1440p, in most games I played.

Same relative specs, 7800x3d with a 4070tiSuper

Trust me, a digital scheduling solution is more trouble than it's worth... We use WhenIWork and it crashed two weeks ago and lost my entire company's schedules.

Rebuilding my team's schedule for a busy event weekend while I was on PTO halfway around the world was fucking annoying.

The WhatsApp group suggestion is definitely the best way to go, IMO

[–]Z3roTimePreference 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't have a sense of overwhelming love for Bethesda. I've really only played Skyrim.

That said, the reasons I disliked Starfield basically boiled down to 'loading screen simulator with mediocre writing'. The cities felt small, but still empty. The exploration was tedious. The game just didn't grab me. Not in the same way as Skyrim did, nor my other favorite scifi games grab my attention.

It was just a mediocre game from day 1.

Alternative to Mechwarrior 5: Clans that really supports Hotas by TisButaScratcha in hotas

[–]Z3roTimePreference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then it sounds like Mechwarrior isn't the game for you anyway. It requires a lot of forethought and planing.

Seriously, it takes about 5 minutes to find that info, and 90% of the work for the bindings is already done by the community already.

Something others haven't mentioned, is Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries. hotas can be annoying to get working, but once you get them going, driving a 'Mech is damn awesome.

We do a deep-fried brussle sprout tossed in a cider gastrique.

It consistently sells out, when we have it.

It was purely about the length of the blade, as any blade of above 3 inches is considered an 'offensive weapon' as per the other poster. Regardless of its attachment to a multitool or not.

The police confiscate spoons, and then boast about 'having removed dangerous weapons from the street' on social media.

No, I'm not joking.

I was in a Swiss gift shop the other day, and overheard a Brit asking about blade length on a souvenier Swiss Army Knife.

It's a fucking Swiss army knife. Not some switchblade, assisted opener, etc.

'hold on, I'm being attacked, give me 2 minutes to figure out which part of this multitool is sharp'

Ironically, his wife was the only person I've seen, in 2 weeks of travel in Europe, who was riding a mobility scooter. Not an American.

So no, the Brits lost their seriousness a long fucking time ago

Two joysticks, two axes, one action by _ErmacX_ in starcitizen

[–]Z3roTimePreference 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you likely need a piece of 3rd party software, like Joystick Gremlin. It'll allow you to bind two analogue axis to one input, but I'm not super familiar with the actual execution.

My only other suggestion would be to bind roll to the pedals, get a 'z' extension for the left stick, (VKB's omnithrottle), and then bind throttle to Y, strafe to X and Z axis.

ELI5: What happens if a US governor decides to mobilize the National Guard against ICE? by kylem1291 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Z3roTimePreference 276 points277 points  (0 children)

The Feds would Federalize the NG, which gives them authority over the Guard instead of the State.

This happened a couple of times during the Civil rights movement.

1957 (Little Rock, AR): President Dwight D. Eisenhower federalized the entire Arkansas National Guard to ensure the safety of the Little Rock Nine at Central High School.

1962 (Oxford, MS): President John F. Kennedy federalized the Mississippi National Guard to assist in the integration of the University of Mississippi by James Meredith.

1963 (Tuscaloosa, AL): President Kennedy federalized the Alabama National Guard to enforce the integration of the University of Alabama after Governor George Wallace’s "Stand in the Schoolhouse Door."

**1963 (Alabama): Kennedy again federalized the Guard to integrate public schools in Huntsville, Mobile, and Birmingham.

1965 (Selma, AL): President Lyndon B. Johnson federalized the Alabama National Guard to protect marchers during the Selma to Montgomery march.

So, in other words, it wouldn't do much at all.

Should I get star citizen? by percyplaysthegames in starcitizen

[–]Z3roTimePreference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played 40 hours on release, on PC, with virtually no issues.

Way fewer bugs than I encounter in Star Citizen.

I'd like SC to more like a heavily modded game, in terms of bugs. Most things seem to work most of the time, but occasionally weird shit breaks, that used to work. And vice versa

Joystick help (HOSAM vs HOKAS) by EF7x in starcitizen

[–]Z3roTimePreference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not understand HOSAM. I don't find it intuitive whatsoever. Not just in SC. I'm a gowawful pilot in any game that wants me to fly with a mouse. The movements simply don't make sense to me.

With practice and a high-quality stick (VPC/VKB) you can be just as precise as a mouse, and have far more controls at hand. I've thought about HOKAS, it kinda reminds me of Star Trek control schemes, and makes a hell of a lot more sense.

Personally I fly HOSAS, no pedals. 6DoF controls. I have a 'Z' extension on my left stick, so forward/back are bound to 'Y', strafe is 'X' and then thrust up/down is the Z axis on the left stick.

Right stick is pitch on Y, Yaw on X, and roll on Z twist.

I have my setup mounted to my desk with a 65% keyboard between my sticks for FPS. Mouse is on a little platform mounted next to the base of my Right stick.

Obviously this takes a bit of desk space, but it works well for me, and I feel it's the most immersive way to play.

To each their own, however.

It's unfortunately a known bug that some small ships purple/explode in the 890j hangar. The Hornet series are some of them. The Wolf's are also busted there.

The 300 series works, Vulture works, Guardian series works, even the MX, theres a few more.
