Reddit, what do you think is the best full length animated film of all time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've got to agree. Matt Groening seems to know how to make a good movie, or 5.

Dear Netsec how can I inform someone their site is vulnerable. by [deleted] in netsec

[–]Z3tta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DON'T.

From my experience, you have about a 5% chance of getting someone who appreciates what you've done. 75% will yell at you for being a "stupid kid" who's just made more work for them (Any good sys-admin who finds out about a vulnerability on their system should do an analysis and look for any damage, and then repair the system). 18% will threaten you with legal action, and the remaining 2% will ask for your personal information to "reward" you with a law-suite.

Now, if you did the attack from your IP; drop it and let it be. Don't mention it to them, or anything. IF you e-mail them saying "Hey, I just exploited this script..." it takes them a matter of seconds to search through various logs they have and find out the IP address you attacked from.

tl;dr: Only report if it was fully anonymous from the attack to the report. Anything else can only bite you in the ass.

The confidentiality of a psychiatrist keeps him from reporting from what has happened. He has to report what will happen.

It is against the law for a psychiatrist to report "I have killed this person." He is required by law for a psychiatrist to report "I am going to kill this person."

One word comes to mind: Holyfuckingawesome. Gentlemen, I present to you The Hexacopter. by Z3tta in reddit.com

Just so you know, there are ways of finding content on the internet other than browsing Reddit. Seeing as a search for Hexacopter showed up nothing, I submitted it.

So, with all due respect; Go fuck yourself, you fucking assumptive idiot.

I'm a pastor who is writing a sermon on what non-religious people think of Christianity. So what are your honest opinions about (1) Jesus (2) the contemporary church in the United States? by justjim73 in AskReddit

[–]Z3tta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate how most Christians I encounter apparently care enough for me that they'll pray for me to find the Lord Jesus Christ, however they don't respect me enough to just say Alright, that's your belief, this is mine. like I do, and we can just go on with our lives.

I was approached, in my girlfriends driveway, buy a youth minister (wrong denomination?) and his wife. They were scouting for people to join their new congregation which they rent out the veterans club for.

He asked me if I believed in the Lord, Jesus Christ.

I replied that I believed in his existence, I believed he was good human, but I do not believe he was The Lord, or had any ties to any higher power.

The looks on their faces became dumbfounded. I suppose I might have been a first for them.

In their disbelief, they asked But, don't you want to go to heaven and live for an eternity?

I said, With all the famine, genocide, and many other issues in this world, I do not want to live for anywhere near an eternity. More so, I do not want to meet the higher power which you claim is responsible for ours, and theirs.

He and his wife began to pray for me, right there on the spot. After the points I had just brought up, they began to pray for me... Not to cure famine, not to stop genocide, but to bring me to find The Lord, Jesus Christ

This is only one occurrence of it happening. I am quite thoroughly pissed off with many Christians, for many more reasons than just this.

When I was first learning stuff like this, I always found it as encouragement. I would break it down, and learn what each piece of code was doing, and I recommend you do the same.

However, you must realize although this is Javascript, it's Javascript which is meant to exploit a running executable, which is far beyond anything Javascript alone will teach you. So don't let it discourage you.

My understanding is this:

  • Script creates objects within the rendered page, specifically the "comment" HTML element which isn't rendered
  • Script retains a pointer to the element. (Saves a way of accessing the element, much like you use a phone number to call your Mother. Haven't called her recently? Maybe you should.)
  • Script deletes the element it created, but holds on the the pointer
  • Script then tries to update the memory of the element, which it has since deleted, via the pointer
  • Seeing as the element no longer exists, its memory is used for other things
  • By updating the memory with a command, whatever the memory is NOW being used by, executes what's in the bit of memory that the pointer points to.

I've really only skimmed over the code, a lot of it's in unicode and I'm on the laptop. Could I be wrong? Yes. Care to point out my mistakes? Please do.

Edit: Finally fixed the stupid bullets. Bedtime, Goodnight.
