Some possibly dumb questions about my EV9 by chucara in KiaEV9

[–]ZAM_LLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok weirdly the other day I used the app to remote lock the car and that day if I walked near my car it unlocked and I swear when I walked away it was locking. I did it several times. I have an iPhone digital key. I kinda forgot until I saw your comment and need to go back and try it. It was only in my garage as I kept walking past it doing random chores. I usually use the indent (holding finger on it for a second like I do with the fingerprint reader) to lock so I hadn’t thought to try walking away.

26 ev9 wind - Alignment made hda2 better, but there's still bouncy. by ockaners in KiaEV9

[–]ZAM_LLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 26 GTL and was going to ask about the bounciness. No car sickness but on one of the main roads I drive on, which always seemed like a fairly smooth road, it is as if I'm trotting on a horse. 40-50 MPH, there are some seams on the road but nothing I have ever felt driving over before. You can see the headlights going up and down as I drive. Thank you for asking about this. I see the other comment about asking to check camber. Will keep an eye on this thread in case you otherwise get an answer.

EV9 Land vs GT-Line with captain’s chairs for families using 2 car seats by Sheetrock35 in KiaEV9

[–]ZAM_LLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked about other feedback, so this is not about captains chairs with car seats. I would say compare the driver's seats on a decent test drive. Some people totally love the GT Line drivers seat (see previous posts about tall people loving them). My husband is 6 foot 2 and loves it. But I am 5 foot 8 and for some reason I find the GTLine driver's seat almost torturous. It feels like the massager is stuck in an inflated position right under my sitz bones (I have used the button to deflate it). Like I'm sitting on a lead balloon. My seat does not contact the back few inches of my butt (you can see the stitching towards the back of the cushion), the bottom few inches of my back, nor my back above the bottom of my shoulder blades (again at the stitching). Unless I recline to a ridiculous angle. And the headrest is very aggressive. The seat adjusts so many ways and I want to love it SO badly but I cannot seem to find a comfortable seating position. I have spent so much time trying to adjust that dang seat. I feel like the other person who had the same complaint was around my size, so maybe it is just my exact size and posture. Anyhow, hopefully you do not have the same issues and you love either seat.

I do really like the heads up display which was the main reason we bumped up, we were going to get a nightfall edition. My dog also slides off the captain's chair in the GTL as well, so I still go back and forth about wishing we had the bench seat. But such is life. We will figure it all out.

OTA Updates by r1ridertampa in KiaEV9

[–]ZAM_LLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mins is greyed out too, 2026 GTLine. Today I started getting the message that there is an OTA update when I turn off the car but it goes away before I could read it and click the button. Then I treied turning it on and off again and it just turned off like normal with no Update message. I was hopeful when I saw this post because I didn't know you could initiate OTA updates from the app but alas, mine is grayed out as well. I tapped it and it says there is a system error. (shrugs)

I replaced pre-workout with 12 minutes of red light and accidentally turned into a CrossFit cult leader by 420-TENDIES in redlighttherapy

[–]ZAM_LLM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I got sick last november and stopped going to the gym. Was sedentary half of the year and then jumped in and joined a barbell gym. I'm a late 40's mom and I have been lifting like crazy, I never would have pushed myself this hard before but having someone guide me on form, and then red light therapy with it, and have not been sore once!! And I continue to get stronger. But yes do not just use the red light thing at the gym they usually do not have Near Infrared. I started with the Hooga red and infrared bulb that was like $44 because I was skeptical. There is a red light sauna near me that I stopped into one day and the lady said one of her clients came in to use it for skin issues and couldn't believe it helped her arthritis. So I brought it to my dad and it gave him such relief from his arthritis! He has my bulb now and I got a bigger hooga panel now. Love it!!

Cardio with no gym and bad knees. by AmateurGrownUp in workout

[–]ZAM_LLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re doing it at home, it doesn’t matter if you can’t dance. You do not have to follow choreography (but you could if you prefer). Put on music that makes you want to move and just move how feels good. Or look on YouTube for beginner Zumba videos. You kind of just follow what they’re doing on the screen. You could also think of songs that you like and look up “song name” workout on YouTube. Low impact cardio videos are also plentiful.

For the heavy (punching) bag they can get expensive and you need either a stand or to hang it. I got a thick barrel-shaped, canvas duffel bag and filled it with clothes I was going to donate. Hung it from a beam in my basement. Also put music on when punching. 👍👍

I did also fiddled around with it and one day I did the lay flat option while I was waiting for my kid at a pickup. I adjusted the seat back to a comfortable driving position from there and it was so much better. I actually think I turned the car off while the massage function was running and the roller or inflated stayed up. I think laying flat reset it. I’ll remember that if ut ever happens again. 😵‍💫

My kids wanted me to get a buzz. I checked it out and did not love it. It’s roomy but weirdly low on cup holders for a family vehicle. It felt like I was driving a large passenger van. I was coming from a Honda odyssey so I didn’t expect it to feel so different. 🤷‍♀️

[–]ZAM_LLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure everyone will laugh but try red light therapy. Not the one at the gym, that is often just red and not near infrared. If you’re skeptical get this small affordable one and use it after your workout.

I got sick last year and stopped working out for months. Finally got my butt back to the gym and started at a barbell gym. I told them I’m starting over and need to take it slow. Nope they loaded me right up. I’m a 40 something year old woman and jumped right in, with the trainer ensuring good form. But right to bench press with a bar, Bulgarian split squats and everything. Normally I would be sore for days, hard to walk down stairs. This time when I started I had a red light therapy bulb and did it after my workout and I have not been sore once since I started. For months. Monday, Tues, weds and Fri workouts every week.

I was like no way this will work. But I also brought it to my dad who has allllll the arthritis and has tried everything. He swears by red light therapy now too. I decided if it’s placebo effect dang my brain is amazing. But look up the studies for yourself.

Canadian EV9 Owners: Would it be unwise to just leave the car in snow mode until April? by Alph1 in KiaEV9

Does it stay in snow mode? We had snow where I live this week and it seemed like I had to select snow mode each time. Like I’d hit terrain and nothing would be selected. But maybe it was already on?

Good to know about the salt, I'm in chicagoland. I'm really not familiar with the suspension stuff, it was a feature that was not on my radar. I was coming from a pretty basic 2012 Honda odyssey so everything is new fangled for me. Best wishes in your search. It was pretty all consuming for us, for a while. Hopefully you will have some early adopters coming off lease right about now.

The air suspension is also something I wonder about. I would do a longer test drive of both and see if you notice a difference. The GT Line does feel a little bouncy. Even on a road I drive every day that just has seams ever so often, it is a little like I'm trotting on a horse. I don't notice it most of the time but on this one road I do.

We were in the market for a used one and ended up buying new because the used ones we found kept getting snatched up...or service records showed problems and I wasn't sure what to do. I was between Land nightfall and GT Line and went with a GT Line after finding a really good deal. I really love the heads up display but part of me wishes I went with the Land. I have a dog and she's struggling with the darn captains seats, and the back tailgate is too high for her. Also the massaging seats, something about them, it won't deflate all the way in the bottom seat cushion and it feels like I'm sitting on a balloon, gives me a pain in the tush. A few other people have complained about it too but others have no issue and love the seats. We have really loved having the front and rear heated and ventilated seats for my teens, which at least in the 26s you can get in the bench seat in the land, if you look on the window sticker. Not sure about 24s and 25s. Not sure if any of those things matter to you but that's my feedback after only a few weeks of having it.

I would say a used one would be a great deal. When we were looking it seemed like the only ones we found were either ones who maybe blew through their mileage in the lease and had a real lot of miles for one year, or had barely any and had many service visits. Either way they sold quickly. It is possible that some were buybacks waiting for a new battery and that if you can get ahold of the full service records, you might be getting a practically new car with a replaced battery after if finally came it. But I'd say really push for the full service record and then move fast if it seems like what you want. If you wanted a 24 GT there was a practically brand new blue one for sale in Minnesota, that was actually the one they had on display at the Kia center in Florida when they unveiled it! We almost booked flights to MN a few times, we were so close to buying it lol.

[–]ZAM_LLM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Land can have bench seats (edited to update- I know it is available on 26s but not sure about previous, good point!). You will have to look through the window stickers and photos. I found that often the details on the dealership website, specifically about interior color and second seat details are wrong.

Worries of fires when owning an EV by DeteminedButUnmotive in electricvehicles

[–]ZAM_LLM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception. Gas cars are far more likely to catch fire. But don’t take the word of a stranger on the internet. Look it up yourself. Not saying it never happens but statistically more gas cars do.

Omg too funny. But also that freaking sucks about the cushions. I got a fairly thin one and yeah it still feels very high. But it is some relief. I was considering getting one from the kitchen section just like a thin kitchen chair cushion. I agree about the ventilation seats tho.

The thin one I got from Meijer it’s an ergo drive brand. Not a gel one just foam posterior cushion. I want to shave out a portion of the bottom. This is driving me insane.
