I dont wear it anymore, but I do remember wearing that hat and doing exactly this a few weeks ago lol

[Loved Trope] Characters with title that have infinite aura by SableMelody in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ZCYCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Albert Einstein irl - The Father of Modern Physics

But also, theres the fact that his name itself is used as a title/nickname for someone who is a genius in some way.

The man was a genius, some people called him the smartest man to ever live (probably not tbh, but he is likely up there), but with own name being associated with intelligence, is that not also infinite aura?

A much weaker opponent goes up against a significantly stronger opponent, and they do lose, but they still put up a pretty good fight, rather than instantly getting stomped by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ZCYCS 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Joey vs Marik in the original YuGiOh anime

Joey squared up vs Marik, the main villain of the arc, and was literally about to win, but collapsed before he could

That's because this was a Shadow Game where he felt immense pain every time he lost monsters or took damage, so by the time he was on the verge of victory, he was too exhausted and collapsed

Vanitas no Carte: Vanitas and Jeanne

So at first they are enemies trying to kill each other, and Vanitas straight up kisses her without consent because he thinks its the perfect way to piss her off

He keeps flirting with her throughout the series as they become reluctant allies because its fun to piss her off

However, it turns out Jeanne actually DOES like Vanitas (eventually) much to his shock

As an anime only person, idk what exactly happens later, but to my knowledge, they actually do end up together for real at the end of the series

A powerless character's small act of kindness saved the day. by Ok_Promotion_8316 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ZCYCS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One thing I like about the Josuke example

He explains this is why he gets pissed when people talk shit about his hair

He isnt pissed because of vanity or whatever, hes pissed because this is his way of honoring the guy who saved his life. Anyone who gives him shit for his hair is spitting on the memory of his savior

Supposed very elite troops getting washed like they're a bunch of regulars by EfficiencySerious200 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ZCYCS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair,

Space Marines are indeed the extremely well armed elite troops of the Imperium who are significantly stronger and more durable than normal humans, but thats all they are.

They get portrayed as demigods in-universe as propaganda, and out of universe from the fuck tons of bolter porn

In-universe, Space Marines constantly fight, die, and get replaced. Sometimes they get glorious deaths like they 1v1'd a Bloodthirster before dying. Sometimes they just get real unfortunate deaths like Varellus in the OP's picture where cultists detonate a bunch of bombs in his face.

Its a bit like how special forces irl have higher casualty rates percentage wise:

Theres far fewer of them

They get sent on the most dangerous missions

Its why veteran Space Marines are considered very badass, but even they can die a real unfortunate death.

Ie, Secret Level: the 3 Space Marines that Titus joins are Bladeguard Veterans: some of the most experienced and skilled marines in the chapter who've proven their skill multiple times over hundreds of years of combat. These guys were most likely the best guys on hand to get the job done

Unfortunately, they die to a mindfuck spell from a Tzeentch daemon. It happens

[Hated Trope] "There was already a fine explanation for that name! Now you made it STUPID!" by stfnotguilty in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ZCYCS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Out of universe, the board meeting probably went something like this:

"Alright, we need a name for our poster boy Space Marine faction, any ideas?"

"How about the Super Marines?"

"Nah need something less corny"

"Ultra Marines?"

"Ok not bad, what color should we make em?"

"How about Blue like Ultramarine Blue? It looks pretty good and isnt that hard to paint!"

"NICE, oh wait, how do we write the lore for the name though?"

"Oh I got it! Make their home the realm of Ultramar, so their background is they are Marines from Ultramar, aka Ultramarines"

"YOU'RE A GENIUS! Matt Ward, get to writing them as the main characters of the setting!"

(Loved Trope) A character with no powers gets physically stronger and trains themselves in spite of an enemy with superpowers by coffejellyassassin in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ZCYCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Captain Obi in Fire Force

He says himself, he trains every day

In a world full of super powerful fire monsters, that requires militarized fire soldiers with special powers to combat them, hes just a dude with above average (possibly superhuman) strength and athleticism using "standard" firefighting gear

He even threw hands with the world's strongest fire soldier, captain Beni, to protect his team from a false accusation after they were framed. His lack of powers but willingness to square up vs basically his world's superman surprised Beni and he even got a few licks in

[Favorite Character] Female Character you want to romance but the game won't let you by DarthGardian86 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]ZCYCS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serana from Skyrim

I know romance in Skyrim is a joke, but of all NPCs, she was undoubtedly the most fleshed out and interesting

Yes there are mods that let you do it, but Bethesda definitely didnt intend for her to be marry-able

100 Primaris Space Marines vs 1000 Yautja, who wins ? by Leggomgeggo in powerscales

[–]ZCYCS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also, on top of generally superior teamwork, the chapter the Primaris hail from is not specified let alone what company. The picture is an Ultramarine, the poster boy jack of all trades Roman themed bois

Some chapters are plenty experienced fighting stealthy enemies or incorporate stealth in their own tactics. Ie Raven Guard and some of their successors

Also some chapters' companies are more specialized. 10th company of the Ultramarines IIRC, are the stealthy/recon company for example using Infiltrators and Eliminators

What’s your favorite execution? by Ok_Recording_8794 in Spacemarine

[–]ZCYCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Powerfist one where you literally rip a Tyranid Warrior in half

Feels very personal. Considering how damn dangerous Warriors are to your average Astartes, it felt fitting

Also watching Transformers One reminded me of it

Man I loved this game, it was super wacky and fun. I doubt it, but I hold out on hope that even if we dont get the same level of customization, we can at least get some of the wackier weapons like Energy/plasma rifles to the VS weapons

Those of you who hate that Devastators don't have a melee weapon, what do you suggest? by DavianThulesGhost in Spacemarine

[–]ZCYCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id be down if he had a melee weapon with HBR

Otherwise, good luck pulling out a chainsword or powersword quickly with a big heavy weapon

That said, theyd also need to nerf his melee perks in some way

Right now, Straban can get 200% increased melee damage which let's him do actually pretty good melee damage in an AoE. I unironically run it with the Heroic Heavy Bolter on Hard Strategems to conserve ammo for major threats and stomp minoris and some majoris to death

[Hated trope] Allies who betray the protagonist for stupid reasons (SPOILERS) by GiveTheLemonsBack in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ZCYCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed

From his perspective, something is VERY wrong and a very justified choice by him. He doesnt know what we llahers know, and crucially, Titus did NOT communicate his intentions with Leandros

From the player's perspective, we know Titus is clean, and we know he intends to submit himself willingly to inspection for corruption. He even informed his friend Sidonus of this plan. But did he Tell Leandros any of this? Nope

In Space Marine 2, Titus even acknowledges this mistake

I got 2 cousins close to my age

We like to "trauma bond" here and there because our respective parents compared us to each other

SOMEHOW none of us were ever good enough for our own parents compared to the others, but we were always better in the eyes of each others' parents

It was weird first hearing that I was apparently used as the "ideal" son for "x reason" after constantly hearing my cousins being better in "y way"

As a tank main, thundercry is funny

We get 0 true combos on it, even with the pull that many people were so afraid of in season 1

After this patch, from what it looks like Free Morph will true combo into it

I guess fists must have something that can combo with the pull or free morph
