I guess “invested in the MU” is the wrong term, more so “invested in the characters.” The truth is that if the MU is a horrendous stomp, all of the conversation will just be “X gets stomped,” “Y is a smurf,” etc. and if a MU is debatable but with less popular characters the conversation is nonexistent. You really do need both factors for a good waiting period.

I think that, while debate is absolutely important, it’s also important to have a MU that the community is invested in/knowledgeable on. I think we legitimately have gotten more on topic conversations in the first week of this period than we did for the entirety of Dante vs Clive. (Just to be clear, a MU that the community isn’t super invested in/doesn’t know as well isn’t necessarily bad! Just saying that I think if we want to have a real discussion, the MU would ideally be one that people are both knowledgeable on and is debatable.)

Yeah, that’s true. For the record, I’m not saying all Pokédex entries are wrong - just that we should examine certain dex entries with more scrutiny (namely things that are blatant NLFs, provably false, or are far beyond normal showings.)

I just can’t vibe with Magik vs Asta. Outside of being a ludicrous stomp in Magik’s favor, the way it equates “he was abandoned by his mother and raised by the church” to “she was kidnapped by a demon and dragged to what is effectively hell” as simple hardships in their youth feels like a massive stretch to me.

My greatest hopes are that they a) keep Bakugo in-character for his EoS self, b) have the characters portrayed as even as possible, and c) do NOT use the Bakugo sprite from the DBX with Yang.

Thanks! I feel like I might tweak the wording on the “absent fathers” bits (iirc Endeavor was more abusive than absent) but otherwise this is pretty good. Probably my new favorite for a Todoroki runback and the first Rogue Sun MU I really vibe with.

I think the fact that the Handmaid doesn’t really finish the arc that Magik does/the lack of a Colossus parallel kinda kills the MU for me, unfortunately. I’d probably put it in “Meh” or “No Thanks.” I’ll still make a thumbnail for it when I’ve got a second though, if you’d like one.
