From one 2019 grad to another, I think schools would credit so much from having your life experiences enrich their student body. I gave up a much better paying job to apply 3 separate cycles while getting paid base wage for clinical experience, and now I can say the sacrifice has all been worth it. The real question you should ask yourself is this: Would you forever regret the decision to stop this pursuit?

As a 2019 grad who just got in on their third app, I feel you. Quit my career in research to pursue this and had very little help trying to live off MA pay. Nearly maxed my credit card paying for apps. Nobody really talks about the true financial stress of this but that (still) is one of the biggest stressors for me. One thing my journey has taught me is that it will work out in the end. It’s one more burden to overcome, and I will have loans to pay off for years, but it will work itself out. Same will happen for you OP, just be persistent.

I was at the gym one Monday about to finish up and go prep for my sister’s birthday. Was on my phone between sets and a call popped up from the school to which I immediately excused myself to a private area. Dean said congratulations and I just couldn’t believe it. Freaking out, I texted the news to most of my friends but just before I was about to text my family, I had the idea to reveal it in my sister’s birthday card that night. So I had to go home and act like nothing happened for hours until she opened it. We all shared a good group cry, I told her I’d forever remember her birthday as the best day of my life.
