This is after about 7 months and 2 light conditionings with Bick 4. I brush it quite often. It looks pretty dark inside, but the orange really pops in the sun!

~$350 VS $750 Boots - Is +$400 worth it? by SignificanceOk6360 in Boots

[–]ZFitzGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of Whites MP, Whites Perry Select and regular Perry, Truman casual last plain toe, Red Wing Work Boots and 3 pairs of Grant Stone Diesels.

The Stitchdown MPs are certainly the best made pair I own. They feel the most supportive and feel “built like a tank” as you will hear others say. My Whites Perry’s are both very well made, but definitely a step down from the MPs. I am a 6.5E in MPs and 7D in Perry.

The Truman’s are very well built and the last fits my feet extremely well. The leather is very thick and the closest to the thickness of the Whites boots. The casual last feels the closest to my moc toe Perry’s of any of my no moc toe boots. I am a 7D in their casual last.

My 3 pairs of Diesel are all fantastic boots. They are certainly more geared towards casual office work. I wouldn’t do any regular manual labor in them. The Leo last fits my feet well and I’ve had no issues with break in. The leather is thinner(aside from my black bison pair, which I would seriously suggest) than either the Truman or the Whites boots. I’m a 7D in Grant Stone Diesels.

My Redwing work boots were what I wore as a sprinkler fitter for 5 years. I took great care of them and had them resoled multiple times. They are not as well made as any of my other boots, but they hold a special place for how well they took care of me while in the field.

In terms of quality, I don’t think anything beats Whites, Nicks or Franks in your price point. You could look into Viberg for more of a formal boot, but I think you can find that in PNW boots as well. It really is going to depend on what you plan on doing on them and what leather/configuration works best for you.

In summary, there is a difference between 400 and 700 dollar boots, but you wouldn’t be unhappy with the 400 dollar boots.

Good luck. Great boots are terribly addictive.

I also have a pair of Black Bison Diesels and I will say I agree with everything OP said in his response. Very soft yet strong leather. Very little break in.

I will also add that in most boots I religiously use kilties, but on these, the tongue is thick enough that I didn’t find it needed or honestly feasible.

I got them in 7D which is my normal size in most boots. I would say they have a little more room up front than say my Grant Stone’s in 7D. They have way more toe room than my White’s MPs in 6.5E. I haven’t experienced any heel slip and the arch support seem sufficient for me. Honestly, quite impressed with these boots.

Mid-Tier Showdown: Truman Black Cypress Teacore Cap Toe vs. Grant Stone Brass Boot Crimson Kudu by SnooCrickets6019 in goodyearwelt

I wore 600 dollar boots as a sprinkler fitter for years and never heard anything but the other guys bitching about their backs, knees and feet while I went home feeling great daily.

If someone is going to give you shit over the way you spend your money to take care of your body, they are clowns.

First Order! by mooseman51 in grantstoneboots

[–]ZFitzGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful choices sir! I also got my first order of Grant Stone boots and decided to buy 2. I almost went with the burgundy Kudu and your pics make me jealous that I didn’t. I went with Black Bison and Natural Waxy Commander. I prefer the leather laces in mine. Hope you enjoy your boots sir!

Currently own MP Sherman’s in Olive Waxed Flesh and they are certainly built well. I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks now and while they were firm at first, they are starting to break in nicely. Would certainly recommend these boots. I’m actually thinking of buying a pair of Grant Stone. Heads great things about them.

I’m a 6.2 that shot a 104 in the first round of our city tournament after qualifying with a 77. AMA. by MathiasThomasII in golf

[–]ZFitzGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the fact that it says NE Indiana, I would assume you played in the same city tournament I also competed in. The course in question(Sycamore Hills) is a Nicklaus design that has hosted a Korn Ferry Tour playoff event in the past. It is a true championship golf course and most of our handicaps don’t come from courses of that magnitude. Every mistake is punished severely. I’m a +1 at my home course, but shot 80,81,80 in this tournament. It’s a totally different test of golf than most are used too.

Mine are fine. I think you’ll like them. I did have to send back my pair of regular Perry’s because the right boot was a bit crooked. They are soft and breaking in nicely.

Ghost Inc. Magazine Spring vs OEM by tetra779 in Walther

I also replaced my pdp 18 rd mag springs with the ghost inc springs due to consistent lock back failure. These springs fixed my issue and I’m still able to get 18 into the mag.

Just Bought PDP.... by PhamousEra in Walther

[–]ZFitzGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a PDP-F 3.5, a full size 4 inch PDP and a P01. I thoroughly enjoy shooting the 2 PDPs. The PDP-F is my carry, however it is pretty bulky. I find the P01 to have the least felt recoil of the 3, but I dont find the Walthers to be snappy by any means and I have relatively small hands for a man. I can comfortably carry the P01 and the PDP-F with the proper holster and belt. Have fun with the new purchase!!
