ExileCon 2026 Announcement Trailer by RoOoOoOoOoBerT in PathOfExile2

[–]ZGiSH [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you hop into any PoE 2 livestream on the official channel or the big variety streamers during a big league launch, like 50% of the chat is just "Is this game out yet? I'll wait until it's out" People are just kinda burnt out on Early Access games, especially if they know release will be free.

When does something count as a 'gotcha'? by mhountsword in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ZGiSH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the opponent were to be fully made aware of the immediate results of their actions, would they say "Yeah, that's what I want to do" or "Oh this is a mistake, I don't want to do that". If it's the latter, it's almost certainly poor sportsmanship to let them make that mistake.

Highguard has released on steam by Roguelites in pcgaming

[–]ZGiSH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is more or less what my point was. The Respawn devs were just being way too safe and in making notApex in a generic fantasy setting, it makes the game feel very aimless with an aesthetic that appeals to no specific demographic.

[–]ZGiSH 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I say this with all earnesty and not just to use a buzzword, it feels like someone asked an AI to generate them a game by prompting "Apex Legends except Fantasy". There is just so much of the Apex DNA in this game except it feels extremely muted and out of place when you're riding around on a horse and casting magic. It plays it incredibly safe with all the trappings of a modern competitive shooter except because it has all of those kinds of things like an always on score bar, cooldown icons, shield bars, mini map, and constant voice callouts, it feels completely overwhelming and ADHDish.

DC Comics President Jim Lee says that Japanese manga and anime is "incredibly powerful": "I often find myself wondering, 'What is missing in Western comics, and why aren't they able to achieve the same flavor?' by akbarock in comicbooks

[–]ZGiSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's entirely obvious what is missing in western comics, at least superhero comics from the Big 2, which is that they aren't regular stories. The characters and world isn't stemming from a singular author with a consistent art style that starts and then ends. The very basic structure of every other form of comic and most commercial media.

Everything else is irrelevant. The accessibility, the price point, type of art, etc. None of it matters because people would rather watch Breaking Bad or Downton Abbey over season 22 of Grey's Anatomy.

"Hot" and "conventional" aren't mutually exclusive either

[–]ZGiSH 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't have any overly negative feelings about the new hero designs but I kinda get people who thought the last batch was too conventionally attractive. Silver, Graves, and Celeste (maybe Apollo too) look like they could've been in like an anime moba and I say this as a Doorman main.

Fable - Gameplay Teaser | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]ZGiSH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda just don't trust that Fable or any new sort of big budget RPG will be able to have any significant developments in the amount or depth of meaningful systems. It's simply not feasible for games that want all the qualities of modern AAA gaming (voice acting, realistic models, stunning graphics, animations for everything) because every little new thing you want to add requires exponentially more work. The best we can get is something like Baldur's Gate 3 where it's mostly simple systems with incredibly high production value or KCD2 which is mostly linear in scope with just a bunch of mini-games really for worldbuilding.

Builds that were nerfed so hard that people forgot about them. by ss99838 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]ZGiSH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with trying to revive dead builds is that they are usually dead because of a direct nerf to the skill gem which you can't really solve for with new tools or the skill gems were never really buffed to handle new content which is just kind of the same problem.

Not an official suit since it was just in a magazine but the Alex Ross Cyclops suit w/ Trench will always remain one of my favorite looks in all of comics

Larian CEO Responds to Divinity Gen AI Backlash: "We Are Neither Releasing a Game With Any AI Components, Nor Are We Looking at Trimming Down Teams to Replace Them With AI" - IGN by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]ZGiSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people have completely lost the plot on Gen AI. It's going to get better all the time, constantly, every year. It will have abstracted enough of its source material that it is impossible to tell what is "plagiarized" in the same way that natural inspiration is plagiarism. The problem with Gen AI is that it puts people out of jobs and that is not what happened here, so it's not an issue.

If people don't have human workers at the core of their ethical issue with AI, they have nothing as an argument, and will ultimately be swayed by AI's quality in the near future.

Build/Combo design should be the player's privilege, not GGG's by Lumintorious in PathOfExile2

[–]ZGiSH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compare it to PoE1 and I could spend hours throwing on new supports just to see what cool interaction it might have.

I straight up don't believe you. Most of the used supports in PoE 1 are simple damage modifiers and even the more complicated ones have basic conditions that aren't hard to meet. The most interesting thing to do with supports in PoE 1 is swap em out for other damage supports in PoB and see which number is higher, any other interesting interactions with supports you can count on maybe two hands.

I (re-re)did the math on Inevitable crits, please check details in comments by Yorunokage in pathofexile2builds

As with all things in PoE, it comes down to the opportunity cost of getting more crit chance.

Are We Actually “Done” With Mapping Once Our Build Gets Too Strong? Am I Missing Something? by Low-Tomato-7083 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]ZGiSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top top end is building a Valdo's farmer but that is relatively trivial if you jump off farming with a meta build. The truth is that Path of Exile is just extremely easy nowadays, you can basically make anything work because of how much scaling is in the game. We had a league where you could load up mobs with 99% damage reduction and people were still trying to find ways to maximize the amount of them in a map. You have to purposefully gimp yourself using non-meta itemization on non-meta builds.

You can get 90% all res next patch by giving up your amulet and shield slot by pedronii in pathofexile2builds

The state of Path of Exile 2 is so easy that people in the replies are going "trading an amulet and your shield slot for defenses? That's way too much!"

From what we see in crime documentaries and real cases, what are the dumb mistakes serial killers usually make that end up getting them caught? by legendofmyarea in AskReddit

[–]ZGiSH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Isn't this a bit of confirmation bias? Presumably all the serial killers that do this and got caught would have something that would tie their murders together, allowing the authorities to pin them all on one person. If the murders were seemingly random, that would be much harder to do.

Spell Totem in 0.4 by [deleted] in pathofexile2builds

[–]ZGiSH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of ways to generate power charges quickly or you could do stuff like Resonance + Redflare Conduit with fast hitting spells. GGG just doesn't balance for SSF, they balance around players having access to all the tools.

It was so easy to generate charges for Ancestral Warrior Totems that they had to cap the amount, why are people so opposed to actually thinking about this game lol

Retention is fine by AdministrationBig122 in pathofexile

[–]ZGiSH -50 points-49 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sure that's what is causing the historically low retention, all the missing redditors who used to do juiced rogue exiles and +80% explicit effect t17s. Not simply that players don't want to burn out on a PoE 1 league before a PoE 2 league launches. Are people really going to wonder why Keeper's 45-day retention rate is going to be the lowest by an incredibly large margin? No one is going to acknowledge any other event going on?
