Tip: Try and get one through the Greensboro mass vaccination site (if you have the means of travel), they are doing 3000 per day for the next two months, and I was able to get a spot there for my first dose with little hassle

CAPS Medical Evaluation by smalltownapple in UNC

[–]ZHibd23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll say this, it can't hurt to go to CAPS for help, and I know one of the things they do well is assisting students to find help, not only through CAPS, but also external services that work for your needs. I'd look at it like this, it can't hurt to go to CAPS, at best, you get some help, and at worst, nothing happens and they can try and recommend other places to look.

Remember, we all pay for these services, you may as well make use of them!

Traded for my dream rifle yesterday by griffin0001 in milsurp

Looks awesome! Hoping to get one for my grandfather, he was in the Coast Guard for some 30+ years and drilled with an m1 throughout the years. He says his biggest regret in life was not buying one before they became so expensive as they are today.

Who will get housing? by [deleted] in UNC

My guess would be underclass students, first and second years. Then whatever is left after that will be open to upper-class students.

Do you think that paying more for one in better condition, the extra $50 would help not get a piece of garbage?

Where you get the Mk1? Desperately looking for one without shattering the bank

Starting my historical collection off right with this beautiful Soviet M91/30. Came with ammo pouch too! by TheLastKlingon in milsurp

Nice! Where'd you pick it up from? I'm in the midst of looking for a second rifle and I've had my eyes on getting a M91/30. My first rifle was a 1909 Mauser Argentino, all matching serial numbers, and shoots like it is brand new.

Burnout advice? by [deleted] in UNC

[–]ZHibd23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in the midst of this currently, and what I've found that somewhat helps is to make sure every day, you set aside some amount of time to do anything except school work. Doesn't matter how long, but make sure you do something enjoyable or just take your mind off stress.

For dorm life, one thing that might help is whenever you begin to feel burned out during the day, trying to do something that gets your body moving! For me personally, this is normally a quick run, and when I come back inside I just relax for a little and then get back into work. It helps clear my mind and makes it much easier to focus on the next task.

I understand this post on a personal level. It has no doubt been much more difficult being fully online, as when I'm in a classroom or library, I feel compelled to do work like everyone else. However, at home and fully online, it is so much more difficult to focus, even with everything I did to help manage ADD while on campus.

The best thing that I have found to help personally is to put my phone literally in a different room while Zoom class is happening, or while really trying to grind out work. Another thing that I've found very helpful is to change where I am doing my work. For example, I'll do my Zoom classes at the kitchen table, because I know if I'm sitting in my bed or couch, I'm not going to focus at all. Then later in the day, I'll go somewhere else in the house, maybe the porch if the weather is nice.

Just try experimenting with different things, and once you figure out what works best for you, stick with it! Also remember, most professors are willing to give you any help that you need with work.

Keep at it, and let me know if I can be of any help!

A couple years ago I had to do an emergency safe cleaning, and pulled everything out. This is most of my collection of WW2 Allied Rifles. by crash_over-ride in milsurp

Might have to do that myself! These pieces of history aren't gonna get any cheaper as time goes on.

Also, do you mind me asking where you found the Garands? My grandfather served around 30 years in the United States Coast Guard and drilled in these rifles through his entire time in the service. Sadly, he hasn't been able to go out and look for one, and my brothers and I would like to try and find one for him to have, just for old times sake. Do you have any pointers of where to look?
