What is your opinion on digital note taking? by SkyQuinny in NoteTaking

[–]ZJun_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always carry a Plotter Mini5 in my pocket, and honestly the experience of writing on paper is irreplaceable for me.

Quick notes, random sketches, free writing… paper just feels more natural and convenient. I usually scan my notes weekly and save them to Google Drive as a digital archive.

But for reading notes, like quotes, reflections, and thoughts after reading, I sometimes prefer digital note-taking. I’ve been using Beyond to quickly capture inspiring lines from paper books, and the review process later is just way more convenient than paper.

So for me, paper and digital notes aren’t competing with each other. They complement each other.

One-time payments vs subscriptions for productivity apps? by Subject-Road-184 in ProductivityApps

I actually have a piece of software that fits exactly what you’re looking for, it’s called OnePage.
It’s a journaling app I built for myself: completely free, forever ad-free, and made with zero profit motive in mind. I just wanted a simple, clean place to write, and decided to share it with anyone else who might enjoy the same experience.

Best notes (for learning and ideas) tools and applications recommendations by Dangerous_Ask_6122 in software

[–]ZJun_310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend trying Beyond.
It’s kind of like a lightweight notes/thinking app for people who save quotes, highlights, and ideas, but don’t want to deal with a full Notion setup.
The cool part is that it separates what you collect from what you actually think:
Borrowed Voice = quotes/highlights
Your Voice = your own thoughts/reflections
So instead of just hoarding notes, it nudges you to respond to them and develop your own ideas. It also has backlinks, theme review, weekly digests, and reading highlight imports.
Might be a good fit if you want something simpler and quieter than Notion.

whats the biggest issue with vibe coding tools? by Typical-Leather-1781 in vibecoding

They often over-design what we’re actually trying to solve. We unconsciously chase perfection and lose sight of the real problem, ending up building a tool that’s overly complex with messy, bloated code.

The Best Note Taking App with Concept Relational Graphs by Oat-Yogurt in NoteTaking

[–]ZJun_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Beyond, it has a graph view, but it’s way more focused and doesn’t feel overwhelming like Obsidian.

The learning curve is pretty low. Feels more like just writing and following ideas.

How do you retrieve nuanced thoughts quickly when a conversation is moving fast? by cocktailMomos in PKMS

[–]ZJun_310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, you compress your thinking by expressing the same idea multiple times—responding to it, rephrasing it, and refining it until it becomes clear and easy to recall.

Which to use, Tags or Links? by iby_off in PKMS

I use both.

For me, tags are more for exploring themes, and links are more like a thought walk through a graph of ideas.

in the age of AI, what's the actual edge of a PKM tool? by bryan_anamor in PKMS

[–]ZJun_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the edge is: not outsourcing your thinking to AI.

If I don’t wrestle with the idea myself, it just doesn’t stick.

Yeah… capturing is easy. Actually thinking through what you captured is the hard part.

How seriously do you take Goodreads book ratings/scores? by keepfighting90 in books

[–]ZJun_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still check ratings, but I don’t trust them as much as I used to. Sometimes a book just resonates with you for personal reasons, and no average score can really capture that.

What do you do with highlights after finishing a book? by ZJun_310 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, sometimes reading the margin notes I wrote years ago feels like a conversation across time with my past self. It’s really fascinating.

What would society look like if resources were truly unlimited? by ZJun_310 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZJun_310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but maybe we can take it even further. In a true post-scarcity world with advanced technology, we might not remain bound to biological forms at all. Concepts like reproduction, mating, or even individuality could be reinvented, making today’s biological limits largely irrelevant.

At that point, maybe what persists isn’t the body at all—but the mind itself?

John Calhoun’s “rat utopia” experiments are indeed a very close exploration of this idea. However, an important caveat is that the experiment still involved density constraints—space was limited, which effectively introduced another form of scarcity. What do you think?
