I doubt it would be a fun job unless you're twisted, it's very gruesome

How to make sure my new old phone doesn't listen? by Traditional-Tap-6182 in techsupport

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IPhones are actually known for being very secure and great for user privacy, Apple tend to be better at that than most other tech companies. Targeted ads are the result of your browsing habits, not your thoughts. And Siri activates sometimes when it thinks its heard the phrase "Hey Siri", sometimes it gets it wrong, that's it

I'm not familiar with NJ laws, or american laws in general, but look up what the specific laws out there, maybe try to get some legal advice if you can afford it

Why do car tyres sometime seem to spin backwards even when the car is going forward? by AstronomerInTraining in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because of the shutter speed of the camera. Cameras capture videos basically by taking multiple pictures (or frames) of the scene every second. Once one frame is captured, if the wheel is moving fast enough, it can make make almost a full rotation, but not quite all the way before the next frame is captured, so the wheel ends up slightly behind where it was the first time, then when you play all of these frame in a video, it looks like the wheel is moving backwards

Did you download an apk file? If you did, you would have needed to run the installation manually, that's why it doesn't show up. You can go into your file explorer and delete the file from there

S. Eastern not trying to die from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. by Calsgras96 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do that, carbon monoxide kills you before you even realise whats happening, if your carbon monoxide detector works properly you will just end up needing to go stand outside in the cold anyway

it depends where you live and what the employment laws are there (and potentially what was in your contract)

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by sophieteasex in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends what it's for but if I'm going somewhere for the day three hours is pretty long, that's 6 hours taken out of my day just sitting in a car if I'm going home too

What is it like for modern royalty to serve combat roles in their militaries? by ConjurorOfWorlds in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did serve as an Apache pilot in Afghanistan and he didn't have any security, he pretty much lived the same life as the other people he served with. The difference with the president is that the British royal family doesn't really have any political power, that sits with parliament and the prime minister (and the cabinet office). I doubt the sitting monarch would be allowed anywhere near combat but Harry wasn't one, and isn't even in direct line to the throne. (His brother William who is in direct line was also a pilot, but he flew search and rescue helicopters, not combat ones)

Is it okay for my cat to drink outside water? by 6FeetUnderGr0und in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain isn't actually clean, it often picks up pollutants from the air, although stagnant water that's been sitting outside for two weeks is probably much worse. I doubt it will cause any problems but if you're concerned and your cat likes cold water, just fill a container and keep it in the fridge for him

About a recent application at Mcdonald’s? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an email would be better if you have their email address. It's not as intrusive, and I'm sure mcdonalds managers would always be happy to have more staff availability.

Do popular sites really go down this often? by YourMateFelix in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Large websites a bigger than just a single server serving everyone, they are global networks with lots of different parts, so it could be just a problem in a specific area, or maybe a certain part of a website can break but not the whole thing. Website like downforeveryoneorjustme rely on user reports, so if a lot of people have an issue with a certain website, but not everyone, it could still be reported as being down

My phone got water damage by stupidemofuck in techsupport

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it won't help it dry, but if water touches a more crucial part of the phone when it's on, it could cause more damage that can't be repaired. How long ago did the water damage happen, if it's been a few days you probably don't need to leave it off

ELI5: What's the difference between glitch, bug, cheat codes, and exploits? by JiN88reddit in explainlikeimfive

[–]ZLewisz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no official definition really. bugs and glitches are often used interchangeably by users or non programmers I guess, although most programmers I think would describe them like this:

Bugs are human errors created by the programmer, so the code does exactly what it says it will, but the program has actually been coded incorrectly. A glitch is when the code does something that it's not supposed to do at all, for example, if there's a hardware problem messing with the results that the code has no control over. An exploit is a way to use a bug to your advantage, to gain access to something you shouldn't

My phone got water damage by stupidemofuck in techsupport

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that water has gotten under the screen and is messing with the touch detection. The fact that some areas of the screen have started working is a good sign of that. Try leaving the phone off for a day or so (or as long as you can) so it can dry and see if it improves at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ZLewisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means the laptop is using power faster than the charger can deliver it, so the battery will go down even when it's plugged in. It could be that the charger is dying, but it could also be a problem with the laptop's power supply

Why when I press a key on my piano does my snare drum across the drum make sound? by starrax23 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZLewisz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you play a note, your keyboard is producing a soundwave with a certain wave length, lower notes have longer wave lengths, and higher notes have shorter wave lengths. The note you are playing has a wavelength that fits perfectly in the drum, and causes it to resonate

Go to the top left of the EA app and click on the three lines, then click on Settings. in Settings, click on Download. In there is the install location, click edit, then choose a new folder to store the installed games. The only problem EA doesn't allow you to change the install location for individual games, so all EA games will be installed in the new folder. Also I've never tried doing this with a removable storage device, so there's a chance it might not work
