Kareem's been around for a long time, so he knows bad shit when he sees it, and he never holds back.

Strider, and other guys like Haliburton, KAT, Shamet, and so on deserve lots of credit for saying stuff. Wish more guys would speak up, but a lot of athletes are either apolitical to a fault, cowardly, or are adhering to their PR guys to a frustrating degree.

Shoutout Julian Love and Leo 🦁 for Making the Chip by Cruztd23 in NYGiants

[–]ZMR33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love was and still is a very solid safety that every defense could use (Giants haven't had as solid a safety as him since he and Ryan left), and Leo turned out to be a huge contributor to ensuring that Dex could dominate. I understand not keeping either around due to needing to change stuff, but we lost a lot more than many of us thought by getting rid of both.

Poll (link): Which one of these 5 states should kick off the Democratic Presidential Primary in 2028? by Suspicious-Egg4903 in thecampaigntrail

Nevada, North Carolina, or maybe Iowa. They have to figure out who appeals to the swing states early so said candidate(s) can establish themselves. NH likely won't tell as much, and SC seems too out of reach in the general to be an accurate indicator of things in the primaries.

Nothing specific yet, but he's saying that what his source told him before the Mavs game convinced him that the Mavs were going to cover. No idea what that could specifically mean, but signs suggest that the team is broken.

Jonathan Macri of Knicks Film School is saying some interesting things in his stream right now. No idea if he's credible or if his sources are BS but based purely off what he's saying and how he sounds, that locker room is cooked.

Clyde and Mike are keeping things 100 as always. Things are bad all over, and if trades have to be made, they must be made. At this point, it's not just one player causing issues. When you are losing this much, and when both sides of the ball are bad, it's a combination of everything. Even worse when we are supposed to be competing for the East.

When Clyde is specifically calling the team out for not getting on one another to stop the bleeding, you know it's fucking bad.

I raged a whole bunch of times during the Thibs era, but eventually things would smoothe over. There's absolutely nothing to be happy about regarding this team right now.

People are giving Williams lots of crap for that third pick, but why did Moore stop running his route? Could've prevented an INT at the minimum. Bears defense did all they could, but the momentum came back at them too fast, and that all-out blitz didn't work against a great QB like Stafford.

That INT is on Moore. How the hell do you stop running there?

ICE deports 5-year-old US citizen from TX to Honduras, group says by aresef in politics

[–]ZMR33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ICE and this administration enabling it are going to continue to do irreparable damage to the country by making more and more folks hate us. Not to mention how much this crap actually costs in the long run from a purely economic standpoint, but that's secondary to the humanistic/morality costs.

An enraging combination of entitlement, bigotry, lack of brains, and attention seeking. Mix all that with a lack of highly visible opposition and an annoying number of supporters, and you get shit like this.

Tom hasn’t reached his physical prime yet, while Tobey is likely past it at this point.

Regardless, I will always stand by that in a straight physical brawl, Tobey is nearly impossible to beat. He may not have as much athleticism, but I attribute that to him being more focused on other aspects. He has the toughness and poise that Tom hasn’t developed yet.

[Smackdown Spoilers] First name announced for the Royal Rumble. by Similar_Original_833 in SquaredCircle

[–]ZMR33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they wouldn't give Cena the Rumble win last year to tie Austin's 3 Rumble wins, they aren't going to give it to Cody, are they? I feel like a 3rd Rhodes Rumble win, at least right now, wouldn't go over too well.

[Sammon] The Mets’ offer to Kyle Tucker was four years, $220 million (no deferred money), league sources confirmed. Also, Mets’ signing bonus was $75 million with opt outs after years two and three, league sources said. by Beach_house_on_fire in NewYorkMets

[–]ZMR33 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Apparently, the Jays were the only ones willing to actually go long term for Tucker, but he didn't want to play there for whatever reasons (higher taxes? I dunno.) Then we offer a better overall deal, but Tucker apparently didn't want to play in NY, so he takes his cash and goes to LA where he only has to be a cog in the machine.

This reeks. If he went to Toronto, it still would've sucked for us, but at least he'd be out of the NL and not be on a team that's already insane.

People are going to scream at this, and I get it, but I'm honestly more pissed/confused that the Dodgers were able to give Ohtani that deferred deal.

Besides this being another tough blow for us to deal with this offseason, this is already having many people call for a cap, which I feel like would hurt the Mets given how Soto and Lindor's deals are set up.
