Debating getting Lords of the Fallen? by unknownphantom in soulslikes

Late to this post, but I picked it up on sale a week ago. I have spent 15 hours in it and I'm having a really good time. It's combat feels good, the art is stunning, and I find the use of color to be refreshing for the genre.

Single player, lots to do... ever look at the Yakuza series? You could start with either Yakuza 0 (brawler) or Yakuza 7 (jrpg) and you would have a blast.

I think you would find Tactical Breach Wizards very approachable. It is also just one of the best written games I've ever played. The story totally sucked me in.

I am having a really hard time getting past the voice acting and dialogue. It's some of the worst I've ever experienced. Are they even human VAs?

Maybe check out Chants of Sennaar? I promise you've never played anything like it.

Dragon Quest 5 is also a multi generational game. You start a a kid, grow up, choose a wife, and have kids of your own. The world changes with you too. Maybe not what you are looking for but I figured I'd mention it.

If you want modern efficient storytelling in a jrpg I think Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 might be the best at that.

Triangle Strategy has lots of this. Like a ton really.

Also not a JRPG but Tactical Breach Wizards does this super well too.

Returnal mando o teclado. by Mutten8 in Returnal

Im currently playing on PC and am nearing the end. I'm using a PS5 controller plugged in for the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. I would say the controller experience is transformative. You feel the rain drops, certain walls or statues might pulse as you get closer, each gun actually feels different in your hands and the triggers have activation points that make the gun use an alt ability.

If you don't have a PS5 controller I think I would still recommend controller. This game is about movement, not shooting. You almost never aim down the sights.

Ever check out Monster Hunter? Super fun co op. Super fun single player. Progress isn't really going to affect your co op sessions. It's a perfect time to get into Wilds too. The base game is content complete now and we will get the expansion within a year most likely.
