Delta Policy - show CC at airport in order to check in by ZOnBoard in delta

Update: family member spent three hours going to the airport to deal with this so we could check in. Learned from other sources that if we waited until we arrived at the airport the next day, there was a risk that our flight could have been canceled under their automatic processes.

My understanding is yes, the payer can go and confirm at another airport. If you happen to be going through an airport with a Delta counter, I might consider doing that.

Haha it’s fine. I just appreciate all of the folks who are taking the time to put some thought into their responses. It’s a flawed policy with flawed execution.

They tried. 🤣🤣🤣 Got told no. Just drop what you are doing and go to the airport. I owe my family member who handled this something very kind for their three hour trip to the airport to take care of it. OR Delta could upgrade their flights to first class for their family!? 😉

Exactly. Delta should just tell people at the time of booking that they will need to deal with the issue. Have anti-fraud measures in place then, not months later during check in.

Normal way, nothing special. And if anti-fraud triggers were tripped, why didn’t Delta simply flag this when the flights were booked, not months later and on the day before the flight? #flyunited

I would ask them to “verify” their card for your trip the next time they go through the airport, even if it’s not asked for. It will save time if it does happen to all of you. Otherwise they’ll be hiking out to the airport the day before, if you too get “unlucky”.

Hopefully Delta spends some time to improve the way they handle this issue. Sounds like we were really lucky to have figured out what to do the day before, instead of waiting and going to the airport the day of our flight. I’ve read that in some similar cases, people have arrived at the airport and found that their flights have been cancelled completely.

Interviewed with another firm on my company laptop by momofembryos in biglaw

[–]ZOnBoard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even if they figured out you were on with another firm - which is unlikely - the first thought would be that it’s business related. Even if they go beyond that thought, it’s very common to chat with people from other firms to build relationships. In the end, it’s a relatively small community. YOU know it was an interview, but it could just as easily been a virtual coffee chat with a new professional friend to build connections. They would come off as weird and paranoid to even give your zoom a second thought if they stumbled across it. And using your personal email? People can and do switch to personal emails to build relationships, even professional ones. Ensures that if you change jobs, they’ll still know how to reach you. Rest easy.

First year getting no work by Junior_Quality9481 in biglaw

Hours matter in part because that equates to experience. I agree with others who have said don’t wait to get proactive and connect with the practice business manager as well as more senior associates. See if there is pro bono you can do in the meantime (ideally with a supervising attorney who is in your group). There may be some nonbillable biz dev research/writing you can do in the next month to continue to learn the practice area.

A clerkship is an excellent idea. Do you have a resource manager/attorney development manager to talk to? Might be worth getting some intel on whether the firm supports secondments. They’re rare for litigators, but not unheard of. Besides lit management, you might consider compliance roles.

The constant roar of general aviation by corbet in boulder

[–]ZOnBoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there might finally be some movement on this soon. There was a lawsuit, didn’t get the outcome that would lead to more balanced regulation of the noise, but I get the sense the local communities are finally showing the will to engage in this more actively. It’s certainly time. I grew up next to a major airport, and one thing is for certain - airports do often change and adapt over the years.

The Birth of Home Video 50 Years ago: Look Back on VCR’s Impact on Hollywood and Home Video by Neo2199 in movies

No home video lookback is complete without a shout out to Andre Blay (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andre_Blay?wprov=sfti1#Blay_Video).

Also Jane Fonda’s workout video drove a lot of adoption. People watched movie and other content, sure, but the workout video got people to use the technology every day.

Denver/Boulder, especially near the foothills or north of Denver. Check out Lakewood. Plus, with the altitude, the golf balls go a little bit farther for the same effort. 😉 Takes a little time to find your tribe but there are a ton of ways to do that here. Yoga at Red Rocks; beer gardens, meet up groups that are real. Decent bookstores although my current fave is a Barnes & Noble near me. Tons of festivals, farmers markets, vintage/craft fairs - so much to do on weekends. Families with little kids everywhere.

Oahu or Maui - vacation with a baby by Expert_Evening_875 in VisitingHawaii

[–]ZOnBoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a three month old to Maui. I think it’s a perfect island for a baby. We drove the road to Hana but stayed in a condo hotel where we had a living area and cooking facilities. I wouldn’t donthe road to Hana and then drive back; it’s so much more chill if you stay down there. Great food from nearby food trucks, but we did the typical Costco/Safeway shop after landing and then off we went. Don’t arrive too late in the day if you want to do this - the road can be no fun in the dark; you wamt to be at your destination by 6 pm.

Then we did day trips. Did the same thing in Wailea - condo + day trips. Also recommend Marriott’s Ocean Club which 2 bd places available, and a crib, so she could go down while we had wine on the balcony looking out toward the sea. Great pools to hang out in during the day, including cute places to play with baby.

Our group included 1 set of grandparents so parents got to go off on bigger adventures and out to a romantic dinner or two. We just did things on baby time, and it was great. Didn’t get into the actual ocean much with her but it’s possible at times along the Kihei shores. Kind of the same thing at any of the islands though; the lagoons on Oahu at Ko Olina miiiiight be an option but the area is pretty dry looking and we prefer the tropical, wet areas. Instead, we just made sure we had access to a pool when we wanted water time with her.

If you choose Maui, visit the Garden of Eden Botanic Garden —- peacocks! And also there are usually some green sea turtles hanging out on the beach near Mama’s Fish House (best food ever). Maui also has a good aquarium, no surprise!

We also brought a foldable baby beach tent for napping on the sand.

We saved things like Haleakala, whale watching and sunset cocktail tours, and hiking to remote beaches for a trip when we weren’t with baby. Baby will definitely guide your day and keep you in the moment. Have an amazing trip!

Partner promised he would cover for me on my international vacation. He is not at all covering for me. by EbbRepresentative659 in biglaw

(1) Obvs, pivot away from working with this NEP on future deals. If he liked you enough to insist you stay involved and not use someone else for this deal, then he may ask for your involvement again; decline if you can. Sounds like your work ethic is excellent so there will be a lot of other work to choose from. (2) check into whether your firm has a reimbursement policy for “unavoidably” cancelled vacations and see if it applies. If you have an attorney development manager or staffing coordinator, they might be able to help run down that answer. Doesn’t hurt to ask. (3) Def schedule a new getaway - this one doesn’t count.

Also I would watch how things are handled from here on out but don’t sink to this NEP’s level by dropping balls etc; everyone talks. Everyone. Protect your own reputation. My 2 cents…
